The Claims of Munir A. Azim

[This is the second part of the questions and allegations raised by Mr. Shoukath Ali, coordinator (Asia-Pacific) of the Ahmadiyya Movement (Lahori Sect), Fiji Islands regarding the Mujaddid claims of Khalifatullah Hadhrat Munir Ahmad Azim Sahib (atba) of Mauritius through an Ahmadi friend of his in Kerala. The correspondence, gives us an opportunity to throw light on the factual and spiritual reality of the current Divine Manifestation. Because of their public importance, we are presenting them below along with brief answers. The first part, dealing with two of the questions raised by Mr. Ali, was published on April 29, 2011 ].

3. What is/are the task(s) set for him (the Mujaddid) by Allah? What has he done to achieve these task(s) apart from letters to a few individuals?

The Khulafa of Allah and the spiritual Reformers or Mujaddidin, their mission is to protect the law and to bring back the lost sheep to the fold of the Master (Allah).Hadhrat Khalifatullah has been tirelessly working on a range of levels and scales, to call mankind back to the path of purity and the Unicity of Allah. As a Warner unto mankind, he has written several letters to religious leaders, political heads and community chiefs, inviting them to the path of peace and rectitude and good manners. He is frequently reminding mankind about the gathering storm of Divine Wrath through the revelations he is receiving from Allah.

He has completed a voluminous commentary on the Holy Qur’an in English, expounding the meaning and wisdom of the Holy Word in the light of present day needs. Another commentary on the Holy Book is progressing in the French Language. As the Imam of the Age, Hadhrat Khalifatullah (atba) is on a daily basis presiding over the spiritual training of his followers and disciples. His Friday sermons address a range of contemporary issues in the light of Divine Wisdom vouchsafed to him by Allah, the Most High

Questions about the Mujaddid in Mauritius-I

[Mr. Shoukath Ali, coordinator (Asia-Pacific) of the Ahmadiyya Movement (Lahori Sect), Fiji Islands came to know, through an Ahmadi friend of his in Kerala, about the Mujaddid claims of Khalifathullah Hadhrat Munir Ahmad Azim Sahib and the Kerala Ahmadis who recognized and accepted the Imam of the Age . In a communication to this Ahmadi friend, Mr. Ali raised certain questions and the friend forwarded the correspondence to Dr. Thahir Sahib, General Secretary of the Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam, Kerala in January 2011.

The questions and allegations, though raised in a private correspondence, give us an opportunity to throw light on the factual and spiritual reality of the current Divine Manifestation. Because of their public importance, we are presenting them below along with brief answers prepared by Fazil Jamal of the Kerala Jamaat, after modifying the original text for the convenience of readers. This is the first part].

1. What is so important for Islam in Mauritius that Allah should appoint a Mujaddid there for the uplifting of the Muslim community worldwide?

Fourth Khalifa on the Mubahila Question

In the aftermath of the Mubahala Challenge issued by Khalifatullah Hadhrat Munir Ahmad Azim Sahib (atba) of Mauritius against the Ahmadi Maulana from Kerala, India - Maulvi Muhammad Ismail Sahib HA -in response to his false allegations regarding the new Massih, some Ahmadi friends have raised an issue: How can the Mubahila be conducted when the Massih is in Mauritius and the Maulana is in Kerala, India? They would not have even raised this issue, had they not forgotten what their own books teach! Let us remind them and also refresh our memory by quoting from the official Ahmadiyya statement on the matter, issued in the times of the fourth caliph, Hazrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad Saheb!

On June 10, 1988 the Fourth Khalifa Hadhrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad Sahib challenged the Pakistani Mullahs to Mubahila. Many of them raised the same issue: How can the Mubahila be conducted when the Khalifa is in England and the Maulanas are in Pakistan? Rashid Ahmad Chaudhry, the then Press Secretary to Khalifatul Massih IV, issued a comprehensive statement on October 16, 1988 entitled “The Mubahala Challenge and the Response of Mullahs” articulating the view of the Community on various relevant issues. He writes:

“Secondly, as for the demand that both parties should gather together in such and such place; or that if Mirza Tahir did not reach Lahore on such and such date, he would be considered a liar. To us, these are lame excuses and nothing short of running away from the Mubahala Challenge.

It is our firm belief that Allah is present everywhere. There is no place beyond the reach of His Powers and no spot on earth is beyond the sphere of His absolute domination and His omnipotence. Unlike any worldly monarch or ruler whose seat of power lies in England or Pakistan, "The Throne of our Lord extends over the heavens and the earth." (Qur’an 2:256

So what is wrong with simply addressing Allah and saying: "La’nat ullah alal Kazibeen" why must there be the physical presence of both parties to the Mubahala? Does God not have the power to inflict those in London with His curse as a result of your prayer in Lahore, or made you the subject of Divine wrath wherever you are, as a result of our prayers?

What is wrong with Ahmadiyya Khilafat?

The Holy Prophet of Islam (sa) promised the glad tiding of the arrival of his Mujaddidin or Divine Reformers in every century and warned the believers against complacency in recognizing him. Any one who refused to do so would meet with an ignorant death, the Holy Prophet (sa) warned.

In his classic commentary on the Holy Qur’an, Hadhrat Khalifa Sani Mirza Bashir-ud-Din Mahmud Ahmad (ra) confirmed that Allah (swa) raised, among the followers of the Holy Prophet (sa), a galaxy of Divinely-inspired Reformers who successfully defended him and Islam in every age and guided and led the erring Muslims to the right path. He also pointed out that Hadhrat Ahmad (as), the founder of the Ahmadiyya Community, was the most distinguished of these Reformers and stated clearly that the process will continue till the Day of Judgement.

What did the Promised Massih Hadhrat Ahmad (as) say about the aforesaid Prophetic traditions? On several occasions, Hadhrat Ahmad (as) did confirm that both the traditions are based on a Divine Plan to secure Islam in every century. He also specifically said that there is nothing seditious about the appearance of a Mujaddid in the century after his departure.

Yet, today the mainstream Ahmadiyya Community follows a Khilafat system that is openly opposed to the appearance of Allah’s favour on believers in every age. Just as the Catholic Pope is in place for over millennia among the Christians, the Ahmadiyya Khilafat has completed a century and they hope to continue this way till the Day of Judgement through the election of the biological progeny of the Promised Massih (as).

The process of electing a Khalifa inside the International Majlis Shura will take care of any vacancy in the office occasioned by the departure of the previous incumbent. No wonder, the Community follows a 'linear' understanding of Khilafat. Once the process is taken care of inside the International Shu’ara, there is no need for any divine guidance for the Community.

In other words, the International Shu’ara of the Jamaat has already taken over the function of Allah with regard to guiding the Community forever! The only function of Allah is to sit quiet and approve the decision of the Shu’ara (God Forbid).  In short, it seeks to over throw the aforesaid Divine Plan through human ingenuity.

In fact, any effort by Allah to send an Elect of His and thereby strengthen the Jamaat in a new century, will only create hurdles for the ruling elite! Khalifa will be forced to show humility and give space to an Elect of Allah to undertake his Divine Mission. It is ‘unthinkable’ for a Khalifa to vacate his position or even share some space in the spiritual realm so as to accommodate the Will of the Divine. From the majestic tower of their lofty position, any one who claims a Divine Mission will appear insignificant. They are the new "lords" beside Allah.

So, any Prophetic teaching that gives space for Allah to send an Elect of His should be viewed with suspicion and ought to be discredited at the earliest opportunity, irrespective of the fact that the teaching may have been confirmed and recognized by the Promised Massih (as) himself!  The advantage of this logic is that there would not be any mental block in throwing out an Elect of Allah through an administrative procedure within when he comes. Once the Elect of Allah is thrown out from the Jamaat system, deploy the army of Maulvis and Missionaries and Amirain in order to subjugate and brainwash common Ahmadis to toe the line of the leadership. It is precisely this logic that is at work in the Ahmadiyya Community today!

Yet, Ahmadiyya Khilafat is not the only group in history to have deployed human ingenuity to sustain their leadership against an Elect of Allah. And the Ahmadis are not the first group in history to consider that Allah has become weary of raising His Elects.

 Read the Holy Qur’an:

“And Joseph did come to you before with clear proofs, but you ceased not to be in doubt concerning that with which he came to you till, when he died, you said: ‘Allah will never raise up a Messenger after him’. Thus Allah judge as those who transgress and are doubters,

“Those who dispute concerning the Signs of Allah without any authority having come to them. Grievously hateful is it in the sight of Allah and in the sight of those who believe. Thus does Allah seal up the heart of every arrogant, haughty person”.  (40:35-36)

Every Elect of Allah emerges to create 'a new world' and rejuvenate the spirituality in a 'dead earth'. After describing the examples of the people of Noah, the people of the Well, Thamud, Ad, Lot, and the Dwellers of the Wood, and the people of Tubba and Pharoah, the Holy Qur'an asks:

"Have we then become weary with the first creation? Nay, they are in confusion about the new creation" (50:16).

'Worship' of the Khalifa among the Ahmadis

Hadhrat Munir Ahmad Azim Sahib (atba) of Mauritius, the new Mujaddid and Khalifatullah (a Khalifa raised by Allah, not men) has come to renew the days of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sa), just as Allah had raised the Divine Reformers in every age of Islam, in many parts of the Muslim world. After all, Allah (swa) does not need the permission of any mundane leaders and mullahs in the raising of His Elects and the questions of Divine Will and decisions regarding the appointment of  His Elect cannot be voted in the assembly and opinion of men! For the devout Ahmadi Muslims, the new Khalifatullah (atba) fulfills the prophecies contained in the writings of the Promised Massih Hadhrat Ahmad (as) regrading the appearance of other spiritually guided souls in His Jamaat in future. The new Mujaddid has also confirmed the veracity of the spiritual expectations and the statements of the Musleh Maoud Hazrat Mirza Bashir-ud-Din Mahmud Ahmad (ra) regarding his 'second coming' among the people. And he has as well confirmed that he is indeed raised in their spiritual shadows.

Despite all that is with them in the form of the sacred teachings and inherited beliefs, when Ahmadis are informed about the sheer bounty of Allah (swa) in our times, they are stunned to hear the news. That Allah (swa) has raised His Elect in this era and sent the new Mujaddid in the mantle of a Messenger of Allah among themselves, appears to them to be an impossible situation from the confines of their bondage in the nizami syatem . They look here and there to ask whether the chiefs and leaders within had endorsed the Divine prerogative and showed the humility to recognize and accept the Divine decision to send a Messenger among the Ahmadis in this era. Hence, the 'blinds' and 'slaves' are largely indifferent to the coming of a Divinely-raised Mujaddid in this age.

Indeed, this is the typical behaviour of people in the time of an Elect of Allah. After all, the judgement of the Holy Qur’an, cannot be wrong in any age: And now when there has come to them a Messenger from Allah, fulfilling that which is with them, a party of the people to whom the Book was given have thrown the Book of Allah behind their backs, as if they knew it not”.   (2:102).

Ahmadis: Love for All, Hatred for None

In a recent e-mail to the Amir Sahib of Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam, Kerala, the Ahmadiyya Youth Movement of South Kerala wrote:

We, at the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, firmly believe that its time for we all to think about what we have been doing. For the past 122 years we have been working on this goal of restoring love, peace and brotherhood across the globe. Our mission is to instill our motto inside every human being on earth which is "Love for All, Hatred For None" which as you can perhaps understand, is today, the need of the hour".

People should be forgiven if they thought the Ahmadiyya Community means what it says. For, they swear by peace, love and empathy for all mankind. And yet, ironically, the same people cut off blood relations even as they speak of fostering universal brotherhood.

Amine Jowaheer: Fall of a Pharoah

The truth has come and the falsehood has vanished; surely, falsehood vanishes quickly”.
                                                                                                            -(HQ, 17:82)
Amine Jowaheer is Knocked Out!

Mr. Amine Jowaheer, National Amir of the Mauritius Ahmadiyya Association, is thrown out from his position by Khalifatul Massih V with effect from April 21, 2011. In articles published here on April 20-21, 2011 on the corruption inside the Ahmadiyya Jamaat, we have specifically noted that the Mauritius Amir was presiding over a corrupt regime.  Beyond his corrupt ways, the Amir was also guilty of many crimes against Islam- it was because of his machinations that Allah’s Messenger of the Era was outsted/expelled from the Nizam-e- Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya.

For the seekers of truth, it should be of great interest that Khalifatullah Hadhrat Munir Ahmad Azim Sahib (atba) of Mauritius had issued multiple warnings and revelations concerning this fellow long before his current humiliation and official dismissal from his Amir responsibilities! The dismissal and humiliation has visited him in spite of the enormous length to which his coterie was willing to stoop to protect him.

Khalifa Sani on Mujaddidin in Future

In the previous article on the issue, published on April 16, 2011, we have presented the interpretation of several verses of the Holy Qur’an, offered by Hadhrat  Mirza Basheeruddin Mahmud Ahmad (ra) in which he reflected on the status of Mujaddidin or Divinely inspired Teachers and Reformers. We are providing below some more points explained by Khalifa Sani (ra) in the course of interpretation of other Chapters and verses in the Holy Qur’an.

The explanation contains impressive insights on a range of complex issues: the object and purpose of Mujaddidiyyat, the time and consequence of appearance of a Mujaddid, how to test the veracity of a claimant and what benefit believers will gain by joining him etc. These issues are addressed in addition to the question about their appearance in the coming centuries as well. At a time when the mainstream Ahmadiyya Community is preaching that no Mujaddid will ever appear in future, the considered opinion of Hadhrat Musleh Maoud (ra) on the future of Mujaddidin speaks for itself.

1. MUJADDIDIN WILL APPEAR IN FUTURE:

Holy Qur’an states in verse 10, Surah Al Hijr:

“Verily, We Ourselves have sent down this Exhortation, and most surely We will be its Guardian”

In explanation of the verse, Hadhrat Khalifa Sani (ra) described the Divine scheme of sending Mujaddidin in every age to secure and preserve the Holy Qur’an. He discusses the establishment of the Ahmadiyya Community by the Mujaddid of the 14th Century Hadhrat Ahmad (as) and finally writes about the situation in future:

“As regards the future, our belief based upon promises made in the Qur’an is that whenever Muslim forget, or fall away from, the teachings of the Qur’an, God will, by raising heavenly Reformers, restore to them their faith in pristine purity. The teachings of the Qur’an will thus remain effective for all time and will ever continue to enjoy divine help and protection”. The advent of Reformers in Islam

At the time of his proclamation as the Khalifatullah of this Era in 2008, Hadhrat Munir Ahmad Azim Sahib reflected on the Islamic belief about the coming of Divine reformers in every century and the extraordinary opportunity it represents for the common believers.  Here are the extracts:

“Belief in the coming of the advent of a Reformer has been held from before the time of Islam. It existed centuries before the advent of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sa), as part of the Mosaic tradition. But in Islam the coming of a Reformer has been taught so systematically and determinately that we are obliged to regard it as one of the important beliefs of Islam.

Factors, which have strengthened and systematized the Islamic belief, are the following:

(1) The advent of a Reformer is described in Muslim traditions as the advent of a new era in the advancement of Islam. The conquest of other faiths by Islam was to wait on the coming of a Reformer. It was to be initiated by the Reformer.

(2) The coming of a Reformer has seemed like the coming of the Holy Prophet himself, the first believers of the Reformer like the first believers of the Holy Prophet (sa).

Corruption in the Nizam-e-Jamaat

In the Friday sermon of February 11, 2011, Hadhrat Khalifatullah exposed the nature of financial bungling and the parties involved in the corruption episode, inside the Mauritius Ahmadiyya Jamaat :

"There have been embezzlements in respect of the Nusrat Mosque in Quatre-Bornes (a fact which I mentioned in my Open Letter to Mr. Amine Jowahir on 27 January 2006), money-inflate of funds requested for the setting up of two gates at the Jalsa Gah. The initial amount requested was Rs.70000, whereas the values of the gates were less than Rs.40000.

Moreover, much lies is present about Jamaat Funds even in Amila proceedings. In a meeting on 04 September 1999, the Amila congregation was informed in Item 4.20 of the Minutes of meeting that:

“We have sent Rs.400000 to Madagascar for the construction of our school, as too much money is spent on the rent of a building for the running of our school there”.

An interesting remark is that firstly, the Majlis-e-Shurah never took such a decision and secondly, in a fax sent by Mawlana Siddique (from Madagascar) to Mauritius on 01 December 1999 (3 months after the meeting), the Mawlana has said:

“You will be pleased to learn that after so many efforts and patience, we have today obtained the property papers of our land at Andavamamba, Tananarive. Alhamdulillah. We most humbly request you to transfer the amount Rs Four hundred thousands (Rs 400,000) to our account in Madagascar.”

Now, why say “We have sent Rs.400,000 when afterwards, three months later Mawlana Siddique requested them to send over the money? Why this blatant lie? Moreover, there are instances when Jamaat money has entered the pockets of the financial in-charges instead of the Jamaat account.

Corruption in the Ahmadiyya Jamaat

“Where will the money come from? And how will such a community be born- a community of people willing to perform heroic feats for their faith? These are not the questions that worry me. I am more concerned that people coming after me may stumble when entrusted with such large amounts of wealth and that they may take to the love of this world”.

   - Hadhrat Ahmad (as)  [ Al Wassiyat,  p.28, Qadian: Nazarat Nashro Ishaat, (2003) ]

No one would have been happier than the Promised Massih (as) to see that his fears were misplaced and that his Community will always tread in the path of righteousness and moral probity. Yet, the fact that he warned the Community on this ground shows that he knew that in the ebb and flow of time, the ruling elite in the Community will be guilty of financial impropriety and pecuniary misconduct. Some the visions of the Promised Massih (as), recorded in the Thadhkirah, also point to a time of decline of real spiritual fervour in the Community even as material riches and power ambitions engulf the leadership.  In short, the Promised Massih (as) knew that Imaan will desert the hearts of Ahmadis and go back to Pleiades necessitating the coming of other Elects of Allah in the Jamaat.

Khalifatullah Hadhrat Munir Ahmad Azim Sahib (atba) of Mauritius has recently warned the leadership of the Ahmadiyya Community against the tendency to protect and preserve individuals and leaders who abuse their position to play with the hard earned money of common Ahmadis and those who are guilty of pecuniary misconduct and moral irresponsibility. He especially mentioned the case of the so called National Amir of Mauritius who is presiding over a corrupt establishment for many years and is being protected by the coterie around the Khalifatul Massih V.

The Sign of Sahih Al Islam

“And as for the bounty of your Lord, do relate it to others” (93:12).

Based on this Qur'anic criteria, the Khalifatullah Hadhrat Munir Ahmad Azim Sahib (atba) of Mauritius is a frequent recipient of divine revelations and he keeps relating it to others, every now and then, the highest bounty any human being can have from his Lord, Alhamdulillahi Rabb'l Aalameen.

On the other hand, Khalifatul Massih V Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad Sahib is NOT a recipient of divine revelations.

DOES IT MATTER?

Read up the following extracts from the writings of the Promised Massih (as) and judge for yourself:

“The sign of a true religion is that through its teaching such righteous ones should continue to arise who should arrive at the stage of a Muhaddath to whom God Almighty should speak face to face. The first and foremost sign of the truth of Islam is that at all times it produces such righteous ones with whom God Almighty talks:

Promised Massih (as) and the new Mubahala

The Promised Massih Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) of Qadian has had to confront his enemies all through his life. Sometimes, he invited them even to the decisive challenge of Mubahala.

In his book  Sachchai ka Izhar” (The Truth Revealed), the Promised Massih (as) made important statements of principles that are directly relevant to the current Mubahala Challenge issued by the new Massih of Allah Hadhrat Munir Ahmad Azim Sahib (atba) of Mauritius in the wake of the false allegations against him by the Ahmadi Maulvi Muhammad Ismail Sahib of Kerala.

1. On the significance of Mubahala:

O Ye who reject me, come unto that which God and His Messenger (sa) have prescribed for the silencing of disbelievers. But if you should turn away, know that the curse of God befalls the disbelievers whose fear and retreat is testimony to their falsehood”. (p.22)

 2.    On Sending the Announcement of Mubahala through Registered Post

A mubahala is not a trivial business  which can be entered into lightly. This matter should be decided once and for all. Thus, whosoever demurs after reading this advertisement and eschews this challenge will have no right in the future to issue a mubahala and may shamelessly call me what he wills from the shadows. Thus, to precipitate the denouement of this affair, numerous copies of this announcement will be sent by registered post so that my opponents will have no cause for excuse.  (pp.20--21)

3. Consequence of rejection of Mubahala:

“However, if any of them should baulk at taking part in the mubahala, upon reading the announcement that has been sent to them through registered post, their demurral will suffice to show that they are false and unjust in their edicts of disbelief”. (p.20).

In the present case,  the Khalifatullah openly challenged the Maulvi to accept the Mubahala duel  on March 11, 2011. When the General Secretary of the Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam, Kerala sent him the official letter containing the Friday Sermon and the Mubahala Challenge, the Maulvi even feared to accept it and it returned back to the sender with the reason “refused”! By refusing to accept the Registered Post containing the Mubahala Challenge,  sent on behalf of the Massih of Allah,  Maulvi Muhammad Ismail Sahib shows that he has no cause for excuse.

To put it mildly, according to the criteria given by the Promised Massih (as), the Maulvi’s reluctance is suffice to show that he is “false and unjust” in his behaviour which prompted the Mubahala Challenge. Now, is it a mere coincidence that the book of the Promised Massih (as) is titled The Truth Revealed”? After all, if Ahmadi Ulema were true and just, why would Allah send an Elect of His in this age?

Divine Claims and the Prayer Methods

Allah the Most High has provided means for the assurance and conviction of people who are never satisfied with mere hearsay, however conclusive may be the evidence in support of it. The Promised Massih Hadhrat Ahmad (as) thus prescribed prayer as a sure method to test and verify the claims of an Elect of Allah. The Promised Massih (as) advised the people:

A person should for forty consecutive days offer the following prayer with an unbiased mind, the last thing at night beseeching God in the following words:-

“Lord, if this man who claims that God has sent him to establish the Divine faith of Islam in the world, by presenting it in its true form and thus inducing men to believe in it, has in truth been sent by Thee, then I, who owing to my ignorance of real facts, am unable to arrive at a correct decision concerning the Truth, pray Thee, O Truth, that are the Fountain Head of all Truths, and O Guide, that are the Source of all guidance, and O Merciful One, that loves not to see Thy creatures troubled, make his Truth manifest unto me”.

Khalifa Sani on the Advent of Mujaddidin

The advent of a Mujaddid or a Divine reformer in the new century of Islam after the Promised Massih Hadhrat Ahmad (as) points to a serious spiritual obligation on the part of all Muslims, including the devout Ahmadis. For, the spiritual doctrine pertaining to the renewal of faith in every century of Islam approaches the issue as one of Divine Blessings for acceptance and also, a Divine Trial for rejection. It is incumbent upon all Ahmadis to recognize and accept and help such a Divine Reformer or a Mujaddid, whenever such servants of God make an appearance in the community of believers.

In the Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya, with the appearance of Hadhrat Munir Ahmad Azim Sahib (atba) of Mauritius as the Divinely-raised Muhyi-ud-Din Khalifatullah- Renewer of Faith and the Khalifa of Allah- , Ahmadi Muslims are increasingly examining the books and other literary works left behind by the spiritual successors of the Promised Massih (as) in the past, to understand the real interpretation and true conception of the spiritual doctrine. Common Ahmadis often wonder about the true status of the institution of Khilafat as it exists in the Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya.

Many Ahmadis think that Qudrat-e-Saniya or the doctrine of second manifestation of Divine Power means the present Khilafat system in the Jamaat, whereby whenever there is a vacancy on the position of leadership, the community will come together and elect as the head a very sincere member of the Jamaat. By working together under his leadership, the Community can gain progress in all the works that the Jamaat is meant to do. This conception leaves no room for the acceptance of a Divinely raised soul outside of the electoral assembly devised for the purpose of selecting the Khalifa. While one can value and support the instition of man-made Khilafat so long as it retains its purity and limits of doctrinal framework, every one has the duty to be part of the arrangement.

But the moment Allah (twa) raises His Messenger in His Infinite Wisdom, it is the duty of all believers to humbly accept and recognize such a Divine servant. Every episode of the claim of beinga recipient of Divine revelations will necessarily involve a trial for the believers and as such, it shall be the duty of the leadership to show humility and careful deliberation to understand the Divine wisdom its complex setting, rather than seeking to ridicule the Divine Message being poured down through a humble servant of God. Viewed in this way, Ahmadis will be able to accommodate their system of elected leadership within the Divine framework   (Sunnat Allah) of sending His Elects among the people till the Day of Judgement.

Hadhrat Khalifa Awwal on 'Khudrat-e- Saniyah'

Hadhrat Maulvi Hakim Nuruddin (ra) (1841-1914) was the foremost companion and disciple of the Promised Massih Hadhrat Ahmad (as).  He was a man of wide learning in a range of subjects. And he displayed an abiding interest in understanding the spiritual universe all though his life. Hadhrat Ahmad (as) held him up as an excellent example of devotion and piety, as he said:
 How good would it be if every member of the community were a Nur-ud-Din;
So would it be if every heart were filled with the light of the certainty of faith.

It is no accident, then, that after the death of the Promised Massih (as), the Ahmadiyya Community elected him as Hadhrat Khalifatul Massih Awwal. During his life time as the Khalifa Awwal, Hadhrat Hakim Nuruddin (ra) contributed his measure to lead the Community in the straight path of Sahih al Islam.

The mainstream Ahmadiyya Community has now, however, clearly moved away from the path of Sahih al Islam. It is most evident in their concept and understanding of Khudrat-e- Saniyah. They agree that ‘Islamic Khilafat’ is the Khudrat-e- Saniyah. However, in the mainstream understanding, Khilafat or Khudrat-e- Saniyah has only one form till the Day of Judgement: an assembly of faithful electing their chief as Khalifa. It cannot include, in their view, a divinely raised Mujaddid any longer (God Forbid). Thus, they have reduced the meaning of Khudrat-e-Saniyah from the spiritually appealing and historically accurate way in which the Promised Massih (as) understood it and Hadhrat Khalifa Awwal explained it to the community.

Mujaddid: Advice of the Promised Massih

The Promised Massih Hadhrat Ahmad (as) believed that there are certain qualities that a believer should possess in order for him or her to be able to recognize when an Elect of Allah such as a Mujaddid makes an appearance in the world in a new Century. The principal quality for being able to recognize a Mujaddid is the possession of spiritual light in the heart. He explained this fascinating insight into the working of the spiritual realm and the human mind by contrasting the responses of Hadhrat Abu Bakr Siddique (ra) and Abu Jahl when they became aware of the claims of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sa).

We are presenting below the relevant extracts:

Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique (ra) was the person whose nature had the oil and the wick of blessings and as soon he had the pure teachings of the Holy prophet (sa), he was lit up. He did not argue with the Holy Prophet (sa); he did not ask for any signs or miracle. As he heard of the claim of the Holy Prophet (sa) he asked him if he had really claimed to be a prophet. Having got the answer in the affirmative, he said let you be my witness that I am the first of those who believe in you”.

That, very clearly, shows that those who have the light of faith in their nature do not need much of talking. With just one thing they arrive at the conclusion. They have a light in their heart. As soon as they hear the voice, they are lit up.The divine power that they have in them is aroused by hearing the voice (of the person who comes from God and calls the people). It begins to develop. And as for those who do not possess that power, they are deprived (of the light) and are ruined. This is what has been happening since time immemorial.

Experience shows that those who indulge in questioning are usually deprived of guidance. Of course those who think good of others and are patient, they have the full share of guidance. The examples of both these kinds are to be met with in the persons of Hazrat Abu Bakr (ra) and Abu Jahl. Hazrat Abu Bakr (ra) did not have controversies and did not ask for the signs to be shown; rather he himself became a splendid sign. Abu Jahl resisted, opposed and did not stop showing his foolishness. He witnessed the signs but could not see them (i.e. he could not benefit from them). Eventually he became a sign for others and passed away in the state of his being an opponent.

Let everybody fear and know that if a Mujaddid appears in any age, those who believe in him are the blessed people. He who finds reluctance in his heart and does not find himself inclined towards believing in him should be apprehensive, for, these are the signs of a bad end and of deprivation”.  - [Malfuzat Vol II, p.165.]

The Promised Messiah (as)  further says: “Our Holy Prophetsa has established that there is a need for a Leader of the time (Imāmu Zamān) in every century and has clearly stated that whosoever goes towards God Almighty, not having recognized the Imām, they will go in a state of blindness, and will die a death of ignorance” (Malfūzāt, Vol 5, p. 102).

Who are these leaders of the time (Imāmu Zamān)?

Allāh the Almighty has extended the advent of the Khulāfa’ till the Day of Judgment and this special honour and superiority has been bestowed on Islām for its support and reformation. Mujaddidīn have been sent in every century, and will continue so into the future . . . All the times Khulāfa’ served and reformed the Muhammadi Sharī‘a and will continue to come to do so till the end of time.” (Malfūzāt, Vol 10, p 262)

Maulvi Ismail as a Mubahila Sign

Heaven and earth bear witness to the grandeur and majesty of Allah, the Most High.  The appearance of a Messenger of Allah is thus the most sublime spiritual event in any age. The revelation of the Holy Qur’an and the purifying teachings and the presence of the Holy Prophet (sa) converted an unlettered people into the thought leaders of mankind. It is no accident, then, that countless signs and miracles appear in favour of the Elects of Allah even in the course of everyday lives of ordinary believers and others. The Messengers of Allah makes an appearance at a time of Allah’s choice, when the conditions of the world necessitate it. They come and confirm each other as they belong to the same chain of enduring Divine Plan. In this context, the Holy Qur’an contains a remarkable prophecy about the second coming of the Holy Prophet in the Latter Days and presciently describes the condition and behaviour of the religious divines and oracles of the day. The time of the Promised Massih Hadhrat Ahmad (as) witnessed the fulfillment of these prophecies.

Now that Allah has once again sent another Massih in the person of Hadhrat Munir Ahmad Azim Sahib of Mauritius (as), we can certainly discern the fulfillment of these prophecies once again. Their material circumstances and experiences in this world may vary. Yet, those who have eyes will certainly discern remarkable similarities that appear across time and space in the experiences of these Elects of Allah. This article seeks to examine and reflect upon this spiritual phenomenon in the light of recent events.

Maulvi Muhammad Ismail HA, one of the leading Ulema of the Ahmadiyya Community in Kerala, India has been spreading canards against the new Messenger of Allah and his disciples in Kerala for some time now.  In order to retain the loyalty and blind faith of ordinary Ahmadis in the system itself, he converted the sacred precincts of Mosques into theaters of cheap wit and abused his position to raise spurious charges and false allegations against the Khalifa of Allah. Like a deranged sorceress, the Maulvi also threatened the new disciples of the Massih in Kerala, warning them with the death of their children because they accepted the Divine Manifestation of our times.

Mubahala Challenge to Maulvi Ismail

Maulvi Muhammad Ismail HA, one of the leading Ulema of the Ahmadiyya Community in Kerala, has been spreading canards against the new Messenger of Allah and his disciples in Kerala, India for some time now.  In order to retain the loyalty and blind faith of ordinary Ahmadis in the system itself, he converted the sacred precincts of Mosques into theaters of cheap wit and abused his position to raise spurious charges against the Khalifa of Allah. [Inset: the Pazhayangadi Mosque and the Maulvi SahibIn his Friday Sermon of March 11, 2011, Khalifatullah Hadhrat Munir Ahmad Azim Sahib (atba) of Mauritius thus publicly challenged this Maulana for a Mubahila Duel "so that the world, the Ahmadi people and his caliph may know who really the liar is”

We are presenting below the relevant extracts from the Sermon:

"I have gotten the needed information about the one who spread the false rumour of financial corruption on this humble person. He is none other than the Molvi Muhammad Ismail H.A (the senior Muballigh of the Ahmadi in Kerala). He is the foremost person to have spread this false rumour and verily soon he shall taste of the evil consequences of his actions.  He not only spread such lies on this humble self but he also is playing God as to say that the death of someone is due to his father’s disobedience to the Ahmadiyya Caliphate and his acceptance of the New Messenger of this era. God forbid, according to this so-called Maulana, the father commits sin whereas the son pays for it? Now, he is spreading the words that beware of forthcoming deaths of the sons of the disciples of this humble Messenger.

A prophecy on the Renewal of Islam

“He it is Who has raised among the Unlettered people a Messenger from themselves who recites unto them His Signs, and purifies them, and teaches them the Book and wisdom, although they had been, before, in manifest misguidance;

And among others from among them who have not yet joined them. He is the Mighty, the Wise.

That is Allah’s grace; He bestows it on whom He pleases; and Allah is the Master of immense grace”.     [Holy Qur’an, 62: 3-5]

These verses from the Surah Al Jum’ah point to the appearance of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sa) among the unlettered Arabs and to the same spiritual phenomenon repeating through a great Deputy of the Holy Prophet in the latter Days. A well known Hadith of the Holy Prophet (sa) throws light on the issue. Says Abu Hurairah:

One Day we were sitting with the Holy Prophet when Surah Jum’ah was revealed. I asked the Holy Prophet,

Who are the people to whom the words And among others from among them who have not yet joined them”, refer.

Salman, the Persian was sitting among us.Upon my repeatedly asking the same question,  the Prophet put his hand on Salman and said, If Faith were to go up to the Pleiades, a man from these would surely find it” (Bukhari).

Reflecting on the Hadith,  Khalifatullah Hadhrat Munir Ahmad Azim Sahib (atba) stated:

All of us do agree with this Hadith, that it refers to Hazrat Massih Maoud (a.s). No doubt in it. This question was being asked twice or thrice from this Hadith because Allah made His Rassool understand that when Imaan would go high up the furthest star, Surrayya, someone of Persian descendants of Salman Farsi (r.a) would bring faith back on earth. In other Hadiths, it is mentioned more than one person from his descendants. So, we understand fully that Hazrat Massih Maoud (a.s) was that chosen one to bring back faith on earth. Then when faith would go back to Surrayya again, people of his Jamaat will bring back faith to others. This Khalifa cannot appear from outside the Jamaat Ahmadiyya, the Jamaat of Hazrat Massih Maoud (a.s)

Now, how can Imaan which has gone till the furthest star Surrayya be brought back on earth? How Hazrat Massih Maoud (a.s) brought back that Imaan? Through revelations – Divine Revelations. Allah spoke to him and guided him how to bring faith into the heart of people. He had to exile himself completely from this materialist world to seek help from Allah. Surely, Allah has guided him through revelations how to achieve this task. Imaan did not reach the earth like this. Hazrat Massih Maoud (a.s) had to suffer a lot, in this field of his bad health and persecutions.
