JUSAI, Kerala: Three Day Camp at Mathra-I

Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam, Kerala conducted a Three-Day Camp on the occasion of the historic inauguration of the Noor’ul Islam Mosque at Mathra, July 22-24, 2011. Members of the small Sahih Al Islam Community in Kerala participated with much enthusiasm and spiritual fervour and spent time together discussing many issues and learning about spiritual verities. It was almost like a family get together of the Sahih Al Islam members in Kerala, with women members of the Jamaat (Siraj Makin) also being present.  [The first part of a Report is being uploaded here.]

With the arrival of delegates from different parts of the State on the morning of Friday, July 22, 2011, at the home of Jamaluddin Sahib, the Amir/Jamaat at Mathra, the Member Registration Process began at 11 a.m.  The Amir Sahib and his family informally welcomed everyone and interacted with all those who were present. By the time of Jum’ah prayers at 1.00 p.m., 17 persons were registered at the Counter, including a few non-Members.

For the Jum’ah sermon, the Amir Sahib selected an important sermon of the Khalifatullah Hadhrat Munir Ahmad Azim Sahib (atba) that explained the coming of a Khalifatullah in the light of Qur’anic verses and the traditions of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sa) and the explanations thereof by the previous Mujaddid, Hadhrat Ahmad (as). In brief remarks at the end of the sermon, the Amir Sahib formally declared the Three-Day Camp open.

What is wrong with Ahmadiyya Khilafat?

The Holy Prophet of Islam (sa) promised the glad tiding of the arrival of his Mujaddidin or Divine Reformers in every century and warned the believers against complacency in recognizing him. Any one who refused to do so would meet with an ignorant death, the Holy Prophet (sa) warned.

In his classic commentary on the Holy Qur’an, Hadhrat Khalifa Sani Mirza Bashir-ud-Din Mahmud Ahmad (ra) confirmed that Allah (swa) raised, among the followers of the Holy Prophet (sa), a galaxy of Divinely-inspired Reformers who successfully defended him and Islam in every age and guided and led the erring Muslims to the right path. He also pointed out that Hadhrat Ahmad (as), the founder of the Ahmadiyya Community, was the most distinguished of these Reformers and stated clearly that the process will continue till the Day of Judgement.

What did the Promised Massih Hadhrat Ahmad (as) say about the aforesaid Prophetic traditions? On several occasions, Hadhrat Ahmad (as) did confirm that both the traditions are based on a Divine Plan to secure Islam in every century. He also specifically said that there is nothing seditious about the appearance of a Mujaddid in the century after his departure.

Yet, today the mainstream Ahmadiyya Community follows a Khilafat system that is openly opposed to the appearance of Allah’s favour on believers in every age. Just as the Catholic Pope is in place for over millennia among the Christians, the Ahmadiyya Khilafat has completed a century and they hope to continue this way till the Day of Judgement through the election of the biological progeny of the Promised Massih (as).

The process of electing a Khalifa inside the International Majlis Shura will take care of any vacancy in the office occasioned by the departure of the previous incumbent. No wonder, the Community follows a 'linear' understanding of Khilafat. Once the process is taken care of inside the International Shu’ara, there is no need for any divine guidance for the Community.

In other words, the International Shu’ara of the Jamaat has already taken over the function of Allah with regard to guiding the Community forever! The only function of Allah is to sit quiet and approve the decision of the Shu’ara (God Forbid).  In short, it seeks to over throw the aforesaid Divine Plan through human ingenuity.

In fact, any effort by Allah to send an Elect of His and thereby strengthen the Jamaat in a new century, will only create hurdles for the ruling elite! Khalifa will be forced to show humility and give space to an Elect of Allah to undertake his Divine Mission. It is ‘unthinkable’ for a Khalifa to vacate his position or even share some space in the spiritual realm so as to accommodate the Will of the Divine. From the majestic tower of their lofty position, any one who claims a Divine Mission will appear insignificant. They are the new "lords" beside Allah.

So, any Prophetic teaching that gives space for Allah to send an Elect of His should be viewed with suspicion and ought to be discredited at the earliest opportunity, irrespective of the fact that the teaching may have been confirmed and recognized by the Promised Massih (as) himself!  The advantage of this logic is that there would not be any mental block in throwing out an Elect of Allah through an administrative procedure within when he comes. Once the Elect of Allah is thrown out from the Jamaat system, deploy the army of Maulvis and Missionaries and Amirain in order to subjugate and brainwash common Ahmadis to toe the line of the leadership. It is precisely this logic that is at work in the Ahmadiyya Community today!

Yet, Ahmadiyya Khilafat is not the only group in history to have deployed human ingenuity to sustain their leadership against an Elect of Allah. And the Ahmadis are not the first group in history to consider that Allah has become weary of raising His Elects.

 Read the Holy Qur’an:

“And Joseph did come to you before with clear proofs, but you ceased not to be in doubt concerning that with which he came to you till, when he died, you said: ‘Allah will never raise up a Messenger after him’. Thus Allah judge as those who transgress and are doubters,

“Those who dispute concerning the Signs of Allah without any authority having come to them. Grievously hateful is it in the sight of Allah and in the sight of those who believe. Thus does Allah seal up the heart of every arrogant, haughty person”.  (40:35-36)

Every Elect of Allah emerges to create 'a new world' and rejuvenate the spirituality in a 'dead earth'. After describing the examples of the people of Noah, the people of the Well, Thamud, Ad, Lot, and the Dwellers of the Wood, and the people of Tubba and Pharoah, the Holy Qur'an asks:

"Have we then become weary with the first creation? Nay, they are in confusion about the new creation" (50:16).

Hadhrat Khalifa Awwal on 'Khudrat-e- Saniyah'

Hadhrat Maulvi Hakim Nuruddin (ra) (1841-1914) was the foremost companion and disciple of the Promised Massih Hadhrat Ahmad (as).  He was a man of wide learning in a range of subjects. And he displayed an abiding interest in understanding the spiritual universe all though his life. Hadhrat Ahmad (as) held him up as an excellent example of devotion and piety, as he said:
 How good would it be if every member of the community were a Nur-ud-Din;
So would it be if every heart were filled with the light of the certainty of faith.

It is no accident, then, that after the death of the Promised Massih (as), the Ahmadiyya Community elected him as Hadhrat Khalifatul Massih Awwal. During his life time as the Khalifa Awwal, Hadhrat Hakim Nuruddin (ra) contributed his measure to lead the Community in the straight path of Sahih al Islam.

The mainstream Ahmadiyya Community has now, however, clearly moved away from the path of Sahih al Islam. It is most evident in their concept and understanding of Khudrat-e- Saniyah. They agree that ‘Islamic Khilafat’ is the Khudrat-e- Saniyah. However, in the mainstream understanding, Khilafat or Khudrat-e- Saniyah has only one form till the Day of Judgement: an assembly of faithful electing their chief as Khalifa. It cannot include, in their view, a divinely raised Mujaddid any longer (God Forbid). Thus, they have reduced the meaning of Khudrat-e-Saniyah from the spiritually appealing and historically accurate way in which the Promised Massih (as) understood it and Hadhrat Khalifa Awwal explained it to the community.

The 'Doctrine' of Ahmadiyya Khilafat

God will continue to raise among these people, in the beginning of each century, a man who would teach them the spirit of Islam and thus, in a manner, renew the days of the Prophet”.
- Holy Prophet Muhammad (sa)

To secure the future of Islam in its pristine spiritual purity, the community of believers was thus given the glad tiding of a wonderful arrangement- Khulafa of Allah being raised in every century to renew the Faith and to rejuvenate the garden of Islam. The objective was to preserve the letter and spirit of the Holy Qur’an for all times and for ensuring the development of high spiritual qualities among the believers in every century.

The Promised Massih Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) of Qadian explained that the achievement of salvation for everyone necessitated the coming of a Mujaddid (Khalifatullah) in every century. The Beneficent Lord has made the arrangement in every century so that His creatures should not fail in any age to attain the stage of absolute certainty”.  Hadhrat Ahmad (as) believed in the authenticity of this tradition of the Holy Prophet (sa). He projected it in support of his famous claim as the Mujaddid of the Fourteenth Century. On every opportunity that became available to explain the importance of the tradition regarding the coming of divinely ordained Mujaddidin at the turn of a Century, the Promised Massih (as) urged his followers to be careful against complacency on the matter. He cautioned that any one who raises objections against this noble tradition objects to the wisdom of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sa). Further, he stated that rejecting this tradition amounts to denial of a Divine Plan of Allah, the Most High.

Promised Massih (as) on Islamic Khilafat

The Holy Qur’an states: Allah has promised to those among you who believe and do good works that He will, surely, make them Successors in the earth, as He made Successors from among those who were before them; and that He will, surely establish for them their religion which He has chosen for them; and exchange security and peace after their fear; They will worship Me, and they will not associate anything with Me. Then whoso disbelieves after that, they will be the rebellious”.---(Chapter 24; Verse 56).

Reflecting on this Qur’anic promise, the Promised Massih Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) of Qadian states:

If a person reflects upon these verses, he will realize that God Almighty has clearly promised the Muslims a permanent Khilafat. If this Khilafat were not permanent there would have been no sense in describing it as resembling the Khilafat of the Mosaic dispensation…

He who limits it to thirty years, foolishly overlooks the true purpose of Khilafat, and does not realize that God Almighty did not design that the blessings of Khilafat be limited to thirty years after the death of the Holy Prophet (sa) and that thereafter, the world may go to ruin…

There are many other verses in the Holy Qur’an, which give glad tidings of a permanent Khilafat among the Muslims, and there are also several Ahadith to the same effect…” [Shahadathul Qur’an, Ruhani Khazain, Vol. 6, pp.339-352]
