Sexual Assault in the Nizam-e-Jamaat

Recently, alleged incidents of incestuous relations and other forms sexual crimes- including child sex abuse and rape, involving  members of the reigning Caliph’s own family within the Nizam-e-Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya became international headlines, shocking and embarrassing Ahmadis everywhere. A woman member of the ‘first family’ of the Jamaat- no less than a granddaughter of the 3rd and the 4th Caliph through different bloodlines- publicly revealed her struggles for justice within the Nizam-e-Jamaat. After apparently being sexually abused and exploited as a child by her own father for many years, the woman said that she was also raped on different occasions by three influential persons in the Jamaat/close male relatives of the present Caliph Mirza Masroor Ahmad Saheb

From the record of conversations with the Khalifatul Massih V that the impugned lady publicly shared over the Internet on the alleged incidents, it appears as though the Caliph Masroor Saheb has virtually failed to actively intervene and take substantive and procedural measures to deliver justice to a deeply vulnerable and traumatized woman family member at a critical juncture of her life. With no process of justice in the Nizam-e-Jamaat, the victim approached the British Police, and investigations are presently on all those incidents of sexual assault and other crimes, and the Police is apparently holding interviews with members of the family of the Caliph himself in this matter.

The claims and counter allegations in the present controversy over issues of criminal justice within the Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya highlighted the need for clarity of principles and practice on a number of related matters within an Islamic perspective. In a recent Interview with the Sahih Al Islam You Tube Channel, Imam- Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam International Hazrat Muhyi-ud-Din Al Khalifatullah Munir Ahmad Azim Saheb of Mauritius spoke about Islamic teachings pertaining to sexual offences. Hazrat Khalifatullah's guidance came in the backdrop of a series of questions and clarifications raised by many Ahmadi Muslims from around the world.

In this Interview, Hazrat Khalifatullah (aba) calls attention to the boundaries of lawful sexual relations in marriage as well as the need for protection for women "from vicious men who try to invade their sacred feminity outside the pale of marriage". All parties ought to return to Allah’s court when instances of transgressions of rules are reported in the community. To prevent the spread of indecency and filth in society, sensitive matters containing allegations of sexual offences ought to be addressed through the framework of Qur'anic principles [contained in Surah Al-Nur] on illegal sexual conduct: establishing a process of truth-telling through clear testimonials while awaiting Divine justice, explains Hazrat Saheb (aba) in the Interview.

In the context of the present denial of justice within the Nizam-e-Jamaat coming into sharp focus before the world community; Hazrat Khalifatullah (aba) shares the grim record of profound injustice that he himself faced at the hands of the Nizam-e-Jamaat in the past: a searing episode of injustice that was meted out to him when the Nizam-e-Jamaat failed to appreciate the descent of Divine revelations on a humble and devoted servant of Allah among the Ahmadis of Mauritius almost two decades ago.

When the great news of a Divine Manifestation emerged in the Jamaat- about the sacred spiritual experiences and claims of Hazrat Saheb (aba), the jealous officials and scheming representatives in Mauritius and elsewhere acted without Taqwah, and these vicious men manifested their arrogance and stupidity, and exceeded all limits of prudence by calling the experience of the descent of Divine revelations as a "Fitna" against the Jamaat! And thereby conspired to bring about an innocent man's expulsion from the circle of the Jamaat, and moreover, they acted with great injustice when they failed to pay what is his legitimate due in any engagement of service- in flagrant violation of rules of Jamaat membership as made by the Promised Messiah (as), applicable national laws, and related employment regulations- including the payment of wages and benefits for the devoted works performed over several years!

Indeed, as the wheels of time move forward and we look back, it is all the more crystal clear as to where the filth of glaring injustice and moral corruption is located, and where the Truth remains. Despite all the propaganda by the Nizamis claiming moral purity and spiritual exaltedness for themselves, those who rushed to mete out humiliation on a Divine Servant through deceit and injustice by trampling down upon the teachings of the Promised Messiah (as) are now facing disgrace and humiliation as their lot for the despicable crimes they committed, and what they continue to commit in the name of Faith and community of believers!

'We will show them Our signs in the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth. Is it not enough that your Lord is a Witness over all things? Lo, they are in doubt about the meeting with their Lord. Surely, He encompasses all things.'[Qur'an, 41:53–54]

Indeed, the future belongs to the truly righteous as the final outcome of all affairs are in the hands of Allah, and Allah's promises are ever true, especially concerning the decline and fall of a decadent order, and the rise and rise of a Divine Order in its place. May Allah (swt) continue to unravel Signs to distinguish Truth from the heap of lies for all the world to realise the spiritual claims and veracity of His messenger and His mission in this era, Insha Allah, Aameen.
