Interpreting the Prophecy on Musleh Maoud

In a special speech delivered on the occasion of the Musleh Maoud Day on February 20, 2013 Hadhrat Khalifatullah Munir Ahmad Azim Sahib (atba) of Mauritius paid glowing tributes to the grand prophecy revealed to the Promised Massih Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) regarding the birth of an auspicious, blessed, fortunate son who would be a servant of Islam. Extolling the literal and physical fulfilment of that great prophecy in the time of the second Khalifa of the Jamaat-e- Ahmadiyya, Hadhrat Mirza Bashir-ud-Din Mahmud Ahmad (ra), the Chosen Messenger of Allah of our times points to the contemporary relevance of this prophecy.

A revelation of Allah can be realised in many ways and in different eras also. Just as there was the physical fulfilment of this prophecy in the previous period, the metaphoric and spiritual fulfilment of the prophecy takes place in this era on 20 February 2004, when Allah the Most High raised Hadhrat Khalifatullah with the title: Musleh Maoud”.  Further, drawing upon the principles of interpretation of numerical values familiar to the great, mystical saints of Islam, Hadhrat Sahib provides an interesting explanation regarding the fulfilment of the prophecy in this era on his august personhood, Alhamdulillah.

“Alhamdulillah, we will again today talk on the realization of the great prophecy made by the Promised Messiah (as) in the green pamphlet dated 20 February 1886. This prophecy is also made by Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh) who had said about 1400 years ago that the Promised Messiah would have a son. In the Talmud of the Jews, mention is also made of an illustrious son of the Messiah of the last days. Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad’s (as) revelations about a promised son are eloquent testimonies that God speaks today as He spoke in the past. The great news announced by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) about a promised son is contained in the Green Pamphlet in these terms:

“I confer upon thee a Sign of My mercy according to thy supplications. I have heard thy entreaties and have honoured thy prayers with My acceptance through My mercy and have blessed this thy journey. A sign of power, mercy, nearness to Me is bestowed on thee. A Sign of grace and beneficence is awarded to thee and thou art granted the key of success and victory. Peace on thee, O victorious one. Thus does God speak so that those who desire life may be rescued from the grip of death and those who are buried in the graves may emerge therefrom and so that the superiority of Islam and the dignity of God’s word may become manifest unto the people and so that the truth may arrive with all its blessings and falsehood may depart with all its ills, and so that people may understand that I am the Lord of Power, I do whatever I will, and so that they may believe that I am with thee, and so that those who do not believe in God and deny and reject His religion and His Book and His Holy Messenger Muhammad, the chosen one (on whom be peace) may be confronted with a clear sign and the way of the guilty ones may become manifest.

“Rejoice, therefore, that a handsome and pure boy will be bestowed on thee. Thou wilt receive a bright youth who will be of thy seed and will be of thy progeny. A handsome and pure boy will come as your guest. His name is Emmanuel and Bashir. He has been invested with a holy spirit and he will be free from all impurity. He is the light of Allah. Blessed is he who comes from heaven. He shall be accompanied by grace (Fazl) which shall arrive with him. He will be characterized with grandeur, greatness and wealth. He will come into the world and will heal many of their disorder through his Messianic qualities and through the blessings of the Holy Spirit. He is the Word of Allah for Allah’s mercy and honour have equipped him with the Word of Majesty. He will be extremely intelligent and understanding and will be meek of heart and will be filled with secular and spiritual knowledge. He will convert three into four (of this the meaning is not clear). It is Monday, a blessed Monday. Son, delight of heart, high ranking, noble; a manifestation of the First and the Last, a manifestation of the True and the High; as if Allah has descended from heaven. His advent will be greatly blessed and will be a source of manifestation of Divine Majesty. Behold! A light cometh, a light anointed by God with the perfume of His pleasure. We shall pour our spirit into him and he will be sheltered under the shadow of God. He will grow rapidly in stature and will be the means of procuring the release of those held in bondage. His fame will spread to the ends of the earth and peoples will be blessed through him. He will then be raised to his spiritual station in heaven. This is a matter decreed.”

According to another prophecy this son would be known as Mahmud. Verily after three years, on 12 January 1889, a son was born to the Promised Messiah and this son was given the name Bashirud-Din Mahmud Ahmad. When he was born, the Promised Messiah published a leaflet with this title in large print: “Takmil Tabligh” – The Fulfilled Propaganda. In his books Tiryaqul Qulub, Siraj Munir, Haqiqatul-Wahi, etc., Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) has attracted the attention of the public on the fulfilment of this great prophecy. And in one of these books, in this case ‘Tiryaqul Qulub’ (1902), the Promised Messiah (as) announced a divine revelation concerning this ‘Mahmud’: “O pride of the Messengers (Fakhr-e-Rasool), your closeness (or proximity) has been revealed to us. You came late and travelled a long distance.”

Hazrat Mirza Bashirud-Din Mahmud Ahmad (ra) succeeded to the caliphate in 1914 after the death of the first Caliph, Hazrat Maulvi Nurud-Din from 1914, to 1965, when God called him back to Him on the eighth of November. His caliphate was a period of glory for Islam. The Caliph wrote a glorious chapter in the annals of Islam. The message of Islam was carried to the four corners of the earth. For the first time in History, Muslim missionaries invaded the West. Wearing Green turbans they visited countries of Europe and America with a message of Hope to a world plunged into disarrayed materialism. Europeans and Americans converted to Islam, and also the eminent dramatist George Bernard Shaw openly said that the Islamization of Europe had (already) began. The prophecy about the Musleh Ma’ud is a great divine sign to indicate the glorious march and the final victory of Islam. With hindsight we appreciate to fair value the great contribution of Musleh Ma’ud to the Islamic cause. Suffice it to say that the most enlightened people of the Muslim world today were unanimous in saying that the only Islamic group spreading the Islamic faith in the world are the people who have accepted the prophecy of the Promised Messiah about a spiritual son, the Musleh Ma’ud.

The Musleh Ma’ud has written numerous books on Islam, but his Tafseer Kabir (encyclopaedic commentary of the Holy Qur'an) shall remain an unforgettable monument and fountain of knowledge. Blessed are those who have known the Musleh Ma’ud, this is surely a grace from heaven. But unhappy are those who have not recognised the Musleh Ma’ud and turned their back with such a man of God.

Today, in our present century, by the grace of God, we, the Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam, the sincere followers of the Prophet-reformer Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as), the Promised Messiah whose coming has enlightened the world once in deep darkness, and deplorable abyss, God raised us to confirm the veracity of the prophets of God, including the Promised Messiah Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) and his blessed son Hazrat Mirza Bashirud-Din Mahmud Ahmad (ra). May Allah be pleased with them. Ameen.

This humble self as you know has received from Allah the title ‘Musleh Ma’ud’ on 20 February 2004. This revelation and title in no way cancel the previous proclamation of the biological son of the Promised Messiah Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as). Indeed, in this present era, Allah showed His might and called this humble self Musleh Ma’ud (Promised Reformer) and for my era, I am also the Promised Messiah. There were claims which were uttered and which tried to cancel the seat of promised reformation of Hazrat Mirza Bashir’ud-Din Mahmud Ahmad (ra). Indeed, he was born according to the Divine will and promised period of time, that is, nine years after the Announcement of 20 February 1886 and 08 April 1886. But what is also interesting to note is that if there is no doubt about the birth of an actual promised reformer from the biological progeny of the Promised Messiah (as), but it is also undeniable that this promise shall prove to be true for his spiritual progeny also. A revelation of Allah can be realised in many ways and in different eras also, and that according to His Divine Promise or Word given to His chosen and beloved servant (Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as).

According to his writings, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) also has opened our mind about the different interpretations of divine revelations, for example, he writes:

“The grandeur of the prophecy relating to the birth of a son whose various high qualities have been set out is not reduced by any long period that might be specified for its fulfilment even though it might be the double of nine years. The heart of every just person will bear clear witness that the fulfilment of such a high prophecy which comprises the birth of such an outstanding and special personality is beyond human power. The revelation of such good news in consequence of the acceptance of prayer is not only a prophecy but is a grand heavenly Sign.” (Announcement of April 8, 1886, Majmu‘ah Ishtiharat, vol. 1, pp. 116–117)

Now, there is no doubt that the pure and biological son who shall also be a grand reformer was born within the nine years delay, but it does not mean that the revelation of Musleh Ma’ud shall stop with only this blessed son. Verily Allah shall bestow upon the Promised Messiah Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) many spiritual sons, among whom Allah chose one and bestowed upon him His countless blessings. Not only is he the Khalifatullah of his era, but also the Massih Ma’ud, the Musleh Ma’ud, the Mujaddid, the Musli-ud-Din, the Muhyi-ud-Din, Khawja Nur’ud-Din, Qamaram-Munira, and many other blessed names. By His immense grace, Allah embodied all these names, attributes and mission in one person, that is, this humble self.

And according to Divine revelations bestowed upon the Promised Messiah, about a son being bestowed upon him within the period of nine years, we come to realise by the grace of Allah that according to the ways of interpretation, a day may represent a month, and a month may be a year and a year may represent ten years. Thus, the nine years can also amounts to a time limit of 90 years.

By the grace of Allah, my life in a way upon profound analysis reflects the number 7. And numbers do have their interpretation in Islam. I was born on a Saturday (7th day of the week) 7th January 1961, and: 6+1 = 7 (and 1+9+6+1 = 17), and the Islamic month in which I was born is Rajab, the 7th month of the Islamic Calendar, and I was born 77 years (Lunar/Islamic years) and 75 years (Gregorian years) after the proclamation of 20 February 1886 concerning a pure son who shall represent the accomplishment of the Heavenly Sign as Musleh, a Promised Son and Reformer.

Announcing to the world that one is the Chosen Messenger of Allah for his era is not an easy matter. People may think that such chosen one is thirsty of power or grandeur, but verily the true chosen Khalifatullah knows how heavy and important are the great responsibilities which Allah has bestowed upon him. The Promised Messengers and reformers of Allah are bound to make their advent known in their respective eras, people want it or not. They are not raised as per the will and whim of man but rather as per the Will of Allah Who raise them to safeguard the honour of His Pure Religion, Holy Book and Noble Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh).

So my brothers, sisters and children, we have the heavy responsibilities of Islam on our shoulders, so that with the help of Allah we can make truth be distinguished from falsehood, so that the world can feel the uprising of a new wave which shall make a whole Ocean. Islam is in need of its valiant soldiers, and the Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam is for this era the anchor of every sincere Muslim believer and every human who seeks true guidance, so that he may form part of the blessed servants of Allah, and close to Him. For this to happen, nothing is given so to say on a golden plate, with facility, but one needs to go through the fires of trial so that his mettle and faith be tested, recognised and sanctify so that tomorrow he may be worthy of Divine love and Allah’s Paradise. But the ultimate Goal, my dear ones is Allah Himself. Without Allah, you are nothing, but if you have Allah with you, then you are whole.

May Allah be pleased with us, with our work, with our efforts to spread the truth in the four corners of the world, Insha-Allah. I conclude by saying that all the praise belongs to Allah, the Rab of all the Worlds, Ameen!
