In Defence of Hadhrat Khalifa Sani (ra)- III

Abdul Ghaffar Janbah Sahib of Germany, the man who claims to be the Mujaddid of the Fifteenth Century and the Imam of the Age, has a disciple by the name of Mansoor Ahmed Sahib.  In a recent article, the latter has responded to the first part of my essay In Defence of Hadhrat Khalifa Sani (ra)- I& II, published here at the Sahih Al Islam Blogspot, on May 02- 03, 2011

From the response article [available at their website: www.alghulam.com ], it is absolutely clear:  The entire claim of Janbah Sahib hangs precariously on a string of a feeble, single argument: that Hadhrat Khalifa Sani (ra) completed only 22 years and six months after claiming to be the Musleh Maoud and did not complete 23 years as per the Qur’anic Law on the subject as perceived by him!

The term “satanic theory” was used in my essay to describe Janbah Sahib’s theory to malign the reputation of Hadhrat Khalifa Sani (ra). Now Mansoor Ahmed Sahib has taken righteous indignation at the use of the term “satanic theory”. He seems to think, wrongly in my opinion, that the term “satanic theory” has been used in the essay to describe the very Qur’anic principle in this regard. Willful misrepresentation or deliberate distortion cannot be the objective or the intention of a believer. So, I assume that the writer is under a genuine misconception about the issue. Let me explain it for him.

JUSAI: a Public Meeting in Kerala

To explain the Divine Manifestation in Mauritius in the person of Khalifatullah Hadhrat Munir Ahmad Azim Sahib (atba) and to disseminate the message of the Mujaddid of the era, the  Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam, Kerala organized its historic, first public meeting on June 11, 2011 at Kodiyathoor

Venue:

Kodiyathoor is a village-town in North Kerala, with a 90 percent Muslim population. Muslims of various sects- Sunnis, Mujahid, Jamaat-e- Islami, Anjuman Ishaat-e-Islam and the Ahmadis have their presence in the place and they have a rich history of harmonious coexistence and spiritual dialogue and even intellectual confrontation. In 1988, when the late Fourth Khalifa issued the Mubahala Challenge, there actually was a Mubahala between the Ahmadis and the Anjuman Ishaat-e-Islam in Kodiyathoor.

The Programme:

The Meeting started with Tilawatul Qur’an by K. Saleem Sahib of Alappuzha. Abdul Hakkim Sahib, Secretary- Tabligh, welcomed the gathering and explained the context of the Meeting. Jamaluddin Sahib, Amir Jamaat of Kerala was chairing the session.

The Philosophy of Spiritual Renewal

“Verily, We Ourselves have sent down this Exhortation, and most surely We will be its Guardian”
-[HQ, 15:10]

In the early Muslim Community, there were hundreds of people who knew and could recite the whole of the Holy Qur’an from memory, as they learnt it from the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sa). And the early Muslim Khulafa took practical measures to ensure that the Holy Book is preserved in written form as well. Beyond the physical protection of the text of the Holy Qur’an, Divine reformers (Mujaddidin) have always appeared in every century of Islam, to illuminate the teachings and to provide practical example for every generation.

In a recent speech, the Khalifatul Massih V of the Ahmadiyya Community has argued that there is no need for reformers any more. The Khalifatullah Hadhrat Munir Ahmad Azim Sahib now points out that such thinking is mistaken and is against what Allah and His Messenger has taught us. In a speech on June 14, 2011, Hadhrat Sahib (atba) reflected on the Qur’anic perspective for the preservation of the Holy Qur’an for all times through the advent of reformers.

Read the Extracts from the Speech:

“Now, the question which is crucial to ponder over: Is it only through Hufaaz (the guardians of the Holy Quran, who know it by heart) or by writing (into the form of a Book) that the Quran shall be preserved?

Some Questions to Ahmadi Friends

In October 2010, a spokesman of the Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam, Kerala sent to three Ahmadi scholars, a bunch of questions based on the Holy Qur’an, the Ahadith of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sa) and on the official Ahmadiyya literature. Deafening silence was the response. Later, the same was published as a public notice, entitled Will the Ahmadi Maulanas respond?”. Once again, those who claim to be the disciples of that great Divine Reformer refused to join the debate.

It is surprising that those who are duty bound to serve and promote the cause of the Ahmadiyya Community are trying to evade and ignore these searching questions. We believe that it is incumbent upon every Muslim, especially Ahmadi Muslims, to search for answers to these questions, even if their leaders and scholars refuse to engage with them. The following are among the questions:

Do the Ahmadis hold the belief that a Mujaddid will appear in every century? If yes, is it not a topical issue in every age? Can we ignore the Fifteenth Century from this wider debate? Ahmadi Maulanas point to the traditions of the Holy Prophet (sa) when they propagate their message among other Muslim brothers. What do you say about those traditions and their relevance in the new century?

Do not the Ahmadis hold the belief that the Mujaddid of the Fourteenth Century was the Imam Mahdi as per the prophecy of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sa)? Was it on this basis that they recognized and accepted Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) of Qadian (1835-1908) as the Mujaddid of the previous century? In both speeches and literature, Ahmadis have raised strong arguments in the past pointing out that the chain of prophethood will not end and that the door of revelations will always be open. Many people joined Ahmadiyyat in Kerala after reading Ahmadiyya literature including Thabligh-e- Hidayat in Malayalam, entitled SANMARGA DARSHINI and the great works of the late Maulana B. Abdullah Sahib HA (ra) such as An Nubuwwat fil Qur’an and An Nubuwwat fil Islam which powerfully articulate the cause of divine revelations and prophethood in future as well. Are you now suggesting that these people should ignore the new century? Can you now say that the door has been closed in the Fifteenth Century?

By selecting Hadhrat Adam (as), Allah, the Most High says: I am about to place a Khalifa in the earth (2:31). Can a Divinely-appointed Khalifa and the man-elected Khalifa be on the same pedestal? Ahmadis now believe that since Ahmadiyya Khilafat is in place, nobody can come in a new century or even till the Day of Judgement. If the elected leadership is indeed the Second Manifestation of Divine Power, why did Ahmadis gather together and conducted prayers for the descent of Second Manifestation of Divine Power during the Khilafat of Hadhrat Maulvi Hakkim Nuruddin Sahib (ra) (1908-1914)?

Did the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sa) ever say that Imam Mahdi of the Fourteenth Century will be the last Mujaddid or that there shall be no Mujaddid after him? Did Hadhrat Ahmad (as) ever say that the Second Manifestation of Divine Power will preclude the coming of Mujaddidin in future? Why did the  Promised Massih (as) say that Mujaddidiyat is the “permanent institution” of Islamic Khilafat till the Day of Judgement?

If the elected leadership is the only form of divine favour on the Community till the Day of Judgement, why did the Promised Massih (as) instruct the community in Al Wassiyat to remain united under an elected ‘Khilafat’ till the arrival of someone who is a recipient of divine revelations and stand up with the help of Roohul QudoussWhy did you, then, propagate till recently that it is essential that a Mujaddid ought to come in every century as per the prophecy of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sa)?

Do you consider that the existing Ahmadiyya Khilafat is the Second Manifestation of Divine PowerCan the Khilafat that propagates utter falsehood- that there are 80 million Ahmadis in India and over 200 million in the world over- be anywhere near to the Majesty of the Truthful Lord? Can it even aspire to be the Second Manifestation of Divine Power when it is drowned in a web of lies so embarrassing that the so called true statistics had to be erased and removed from the public domain?

Allah appoints His Khalifa or Mujaddid as the spiritual Commander of the Muslims. Once such an appointment is made, who presides over the spiritual realm among the believers- a man-elected Khalifa or a divinely-appointed MujaddidThe issue can no longer be put under the carpet. Ignoring or evading the issue will not brush it away. If the current Ahmadiyya Khilafat is indeed based on the precept of prophethood enjoying divine pleasure and on a higher pedestal, then, why is it that Allah, the Most High has deserted the present Khalifa Mirza Masroor Ahmad Sahib and deprived him of divine revelations? Why is it that the “spiritual Commander” Khalifa is unable to respond from a spiritual perspective to the claims of Hadhrat Munir Ahmad Azim Sahib (atba) of Mauritius as the Mujaddid of the Fifteenth century, Muhyiuddin, Khalifathullah, Massih Maoud and Amir’ul Mu’mineen?

Ahmadiyya List of Mujaddidin

An Ahmadi scholar, Waheed Ahmad Sahib, has written a book: A Book of Religious Knowledge (for Ahmadi Muslims).  [(1995); p.352: ill; 22cm.ISBN 1 887494 05 9]. He provides the List of Mujaddidin who appeared in every century up to the last Century. He writes:

A list of various "Renovators" who have appeared during the past fourteen hundred years is given below. These mujaddids were the most outstanding saints and scholars of their time and did much to reform the religion of Islam, of their day.

In this list, only one Mujaddid is given for each century. Many Muslims, however, recognize more than one Mujaddid for some centuries.

Mujaddidin of Islam

A Mujaddid is a person who renews or renovates the religion of Islam. According to a Hadith of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sa), which has been recorded by Abu Da'ood, renovators will appear during every century of Islam:

"Verily, God shall raise for this community, at the beginning of every century, one who will renovate for it its religion".

Many a venerable Muslim saints who lived among the members of the Community since the advent of Prophet Muhammad (sa) either declared themselves to be the Mujaddid of their respective age or else had honored some other sage with this appellation. And the Muslims have, by consensus revered, them as such. For the benefit of our readers, we are providing below the following information on the question of Mujaddidiyat in Islam available at the official website of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.

Demystifying the Ahmadiyya Khilafat-II

Today, the Ahmadi Muslims attribute a mystical halo around their current Khalifa Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad Sahib. This extraordinary reverence has to do with three distinct assumptions:

1) Ahmadiyya Jamaat established true Islamic Khilafat for the first time in over a millennium after the departure of the rightly-guided Khalifas of early Islam.

2) The current Khalifa is the Imam of the Age and appointed by none other than Allah Himself.

3) No one on the face of earth will get the Divine favour of a spiritual station above that of the Ahmadiyya Khalifa.

As a divinely-assured religion, Islam challenges its opponents to the battle ground of proof and evidence in favour of beliefs that they claim to uphold. Like wise, the mystical halo of the Khalifa can be assessed on the altar of Islamic spirituality and we can analyse how far the halo remains behind after a critical examination on the basis of Qur’anic doctrine.

As we have noted in the previous installment of this essay [To access that part, click here), the idea that Ahmadiyyat restored Islamic Khilafat after a millennium is sheer nonsense, if we go by the Divine plan for Islam and the Holy Prophet’ prophecies on the issue. If you have any respect left for Promised Massih (as), you cannot argue the case that Islam failed to offer a permanent Khilafat to the Muslim Ummah or that Allah failed to raise His Khulafa in every age in the service of His chosen faith. This kind of a claim would completely contradict his belief and impassioned arguments on the subject. More significantly, such a world view depicts Islam poorly in the company of other great faiths: what is so special about Islam if it cannot produce living testimonials in favour of its majesty and grandeur in every age?

Demystifying Ahmadiyya Khilafat

In the April 2011 issue of the Review of Religions, Harris Zafar of USA has written an editorial article: Demystifying ‘Caliphate’.  The article is an eloquent argument in favour of looking at Khilafat as a spiritual phenomenon as against the tendency to look at the whole issue from a political, state-centric, power-oriented prism.

According to Mr. Zafar, the finest example of Islamic Khilafat was in the early era when the rightly guided Khalifas presided over the Muslim Community for a period of 30 years after the death of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sa). He argues that spirituality was lost for over a millennium from the Islamic world only to be restored back with the establishment of the Ahmadiyya Khilafat. And he considers that the current Khalifa of the Ahmadiyya Community is “God- appointed”.

Mr. Zafar’s argument is, however,  riddled with a major lacuna: in the pursuit of demystifying Islamic Khilafat, he ended up reducing its profound spiritual connotations and mystifying the Ahmadiyya Khilafat. He considers only the rightly-guided Khalifas in the early Islam and the establishment of Khilafat in the Ahmadiyya Community as examples of the spiritual, real Khilafat. In other words, he has reduced Islamic Khilafat to the system of elected representatives presiding over the Community. Thus, he indirectly ends up arguing that in the more than 1400- year old history of Islam, the real Islam was in place for a mere period of 150 years or less if we combine the period of early Islamic Khilafat and the Ahmadiyya Khilafat.

Kerala Ahmadis and the new Mujaddid-I

Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam, which was established in March 2008 by the Mujaddid of the new Century Hadhrat Munir Ahmad Azim Sahib of Mauritius, crossed the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea and reached the shores of Kerala, India in September –October 2010.

Supporting and endorsing an Elect of Allah is the binding duty and responsibility of believers who live in the time of a Divine Reformer. Thus Jamaluddin Sahib of Mathra was the first person in India to have the honour of accepting and becoming a disciple of the new Massih of Allah. Strangely, however, the Ahmadi Maulanas are standing up against the great Divine favour on the Community.

When the Massih of Allah elevated his first disciple in Kerala to the position of Amir Jamaat after the formation of the Jamaat in the State, the Maulanas gave went to their anger at the Divine favour by trying to assassinate the character and honour of the disciples of the new Massih. They seek to extinguish the Light of Allah through all foul means possible. At this juncture, it is important to remind them of what they don’t want to remember or hear:

That till recently Jamaluddin Sahib of Mathra was an honourable man in the Jamaat. More than 50 people took Bai’at and were initiated into the Jamaat through him. He was instrumental in the formation of the Ahmadiyya Jamaat in two places in South Kerala: Mathra and Trivandrum, the capital city of the State. And some of the Ahmadis who took Bai’at through him later went on to form another branch of the Jamaat in the neighbouring State of Tamil Nadu as well. These are uncommon achievements by the record and practice of the Kerala Ahmadiyya Jamaat today. It would not have been possible but for the combination of special blessings of Allah and sincere  efforts of the people concerned. Caught up in the cauldron of jealousy and  hubris, can the leadership be expected to have the humility to acknowledge contributions or care about higher notions of gratefulness?

Fourth Khalifa on Mujaddidiyat-II

In the first part of the essay, published here on May 05, 2011, we have noted an important statement of the Fourth Khalifa Hadhrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad Sahib on the question of the coming of Mujaddidin in the new century, just as it used to be in all the centuries before in Islam. In our analysis, we have clearly shown how mistaken the Khalifa was in thinking that the Promised Massih Hadhrat Ahmad (as) shared his perspective. The emphatic statement of the Fourth Khalifa clearly shows that knowingly or unknowingly, there has come to be a radical disconnect between the original teachings of Islam as well as the explanatory commentary of the same by the Promised Massih (as) on the one hand and the current beliefs in the Ahmadiyya Community on the other. For the essay, click here.

It is remarkable to note that the statement of the Fourth Khalifa came in 1993, exactly 84 years after the death of the Promised Massih (as). What is the significance of 84 years in Islamic spirituality? A thousand months constitute 84 years and stand for a century in the spiritual realm. Thus, the Holy Qur’an states:

“The Night of Destiny (Decree) is better than a thousand months. Therein descend angels and the Spirit with their Lord’s decree concerning everything”. (97:4-5)

Both the Promised Massih (as) and Hadhrat Musleh Maoud (ra) have written that the period referred to in the Holy Qur’an is linked to the advent of a Mujaddid.

Fourth Khalifa on Khilafat and Mujaddidiyat

One of the most unfortunate statements ever made by the Fourth Khalifa Hadhrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad Sahib was in the course of a Friday Sermon of August 27, 1993. He stated:

"Since the imamat [i.e. Ahmadiyya Khilafat] is in existence, there is no need for the coming of a Mujaddid. The supporting testimony of God has crushed this evil [fitna] for all time. The imamat shall not end till the Day of Judgment, so there is no need for a Mujaddid till the Day of Judgment. . . . Only those can deny this fact whose hearts are devoid of the fear of God. . . . As God has indeed spoken the truth, and the Founder of the Ahmadiyya Movement has indeed spoken the truth, so those people are false who believe that imamat will now come to an end and now that the new century [Hijra] has started they must wait for a Mujaddid. Thirteen years have already passed since the beginning of the fifteenth century and in this period no Mujaddid has arisen outside the imamat of the Ahmadiyya Movement. This has exposed this false propaganda. Even if God makes them live for a hundred years they will not see another Mujaddid." - Al-Fazl, 30 September 1993.

Why the Statement is unfortunate?

1. Because it was made by a man elected by people and was given the position of Khalifa of the Promised Massih (as) to lead them in the path of Sahih Al Islam

2. Because he thought that by saying what he did, he was following in the footsteps of the Promised Massih (as) and defending the larger cause of the Jamaat and Islam for the future.

3. Because the best of intentions may not be sufficient at times- People can be wrong even when they fervently believe something to be true and correct.

The Claims of Munir A. Azim

[This is the second part of the questions and allegations raised by Mr. Shoukath Ali, coordinator (Asia-Pacific) of the Ahmadiyya Movement (Lahori Sect), Fiji Islands regarding the Mujaddid claims of Khalifatullah Hadhrat Munir Ahmad Azim Sahib (atba) of Mauritius through an Ahmadi friend of his in Kerala. The correspondence, gives us an opportunity to throw light on the factual and spiritual reality of the current Divine Manifestation. Because of their public importance, we are presenting them below along with brief answers. The first part, dealing with two of the questions raised by Mr. Ali, was published on April 29, 2011 ].

3. What is/are the task(s) set for him (the Mujaddid) by Allah? What has he done to achieve these task(s) apart from letters to a few individuals?

The Khulafa of Allah and the spiritual Reformers or Mujaddidin, their mission is to protect the law and to bring back the lost sheep to the fold of the Master (Allah).Hadhrat Khalifatullah has been tirelessly working on a range of levels and scales, to call mankind back to the path of purity and the Unicity of Allah. As a Warner unto mankind, he has written several letters to religious leaders, political heads and community chiefs, inviting them to the path of peace and rectitude and good manners. He is frequently reminding mankind about the gathering storm of Divine Wrath through the revelations he is receiving from Allah.

He has completed a voluminous commentary on the Holy Qur’an in English, expounding the meaning and wisdom of the Holy Word in the light of present day needs. Another commentary on the Holy Book is progressing in the French Language. As the Imam of the Age, Hadhrat Khalifatullah (atba) is on a daily basis presiding over the spiritual training of his followers and disciples. His Friday sermons address a range of contemporary issues in the light of Divine Wisdom vouchsafed to him by Allah, the Most High

Khalifa Sani on the Advent of Mujaddidin

The advent of a Mujaddid or a Divine reformer in the new century of Islam after the Promised Massih Hadhrat Ahmad (as) points to a serious spiritual obligation on the part of all Muslims, including the devout Ahmadis. For, the spiritual doctrine pertaining to the renewal of faith in every century of Islam approaches the issue as one of Divine Blessings for acceptance and also, a Divine Trial for rejection. It is incumbent upon all Ahmadis to recognize and accept and help such a Divine Reformer or a Mujaddid, whenever such servants of God make an appearance in the community of believers.

In the Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya, with the appearance of Hadhrat Munir Ahmad Azim Sahib (atba) of Mauritius as the Divinely-raised Muhyi-ud-Din Khalifatullah- Renewer of Faith and the Khalifa of Allah- , Ahmadi Muslims are increasingly examining the books and other literary works left behind by the spiritual successors of the Promised Massih (as) in the past, to understand the real interpretation and true conception of the spiritual doctrine. Common Ahmadis often wonder about the true status of the institution of Khilafat as it exists in the Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya.

Many Ahmadis think that Qudrat-e-Saniya or the doctrine of second manifestation of Divine Power means the present Khilafat system in the Jamaat, whereby whenever there is a vacancy on the position of leadership, the community will come together and elect as the head a very sincere member of the Jamaat. By working together under his leadership, the Community can gain progress in all the works that the Jamaat is meant to do. This conception leaves no room for the acceptance of a Divinely raised soul outside of the electoral assembly devised for the purpose of selecting the Khalifa. While one can value and support the instition of man-made Khilafat so long as it retains its purity and limits of doctrinal framework, every one has the duty to be part of the arrangement.

But the moment Allah (twa) raises His Messenger in His Infinite Wisdom, it is the duty of all believers to humbly accept and recognize such a Divine servant. Every episode of the claim of beinga recipient of Divine revelations will necessarily involve a trial for the believers and as such, it shall be the duty of the leadership to show humility and careful deliberation to understand the Divine wisdom its complex setting, rather than seeking to ridicule the Divine Message being poured down through a humble servant of God. Viewed in this way, Ahmadis will be able to accommodate their system of elected leadership within the Divine framework   (Sunnat Allah) of sending His Elects among the people till the Day of Judgement.

Mujaddid and the Sign of ‘Laila-tul- Qadr’

The Promised Massih Hadhrat Ahmad (as) writes:

Allah gives glad tidings to the faithful in Surah Al Qadr that His prophet and His revelation descended from the heaven during the period of Laila-tul- Qadr (the Night of Decree).

Every Muhaddath and Mujaddid who is commissioned by Allah always appears during the Night of Decree.

Do you understand what is meant by the Night of Decree? The Night of Decree or the Laila-tul- Qadr is the name of a night when spiritual darkness reaches its ultimate gloom. That gloom, metaphorically, demands a light from heaven for its dissipation. This night is symbolically called the Night of Decree. In fact, it is not a night, but a period, which is referred to as a ‘night’ because of its intense darkness.

One thousand months is the approximate life span of a human being. It is also a period after which normal human senses ceases to function. The elapse of a period of one thousand months, following the demise of a Prophet or his spiritual successor also signals the commencement of a ‘night’ of darkness. This ‘night’ triggers fervour in the heavens and the seeds of the birth of one or more reformers (Mujaddidin) is stealthily sown. Thus such a Mujaddid or prepare to emerge at the head of the new century. The following verse is also an indication by Allah towards this phenomenon:

“The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months” (Surah Al Qadr, 97:4) .

It means that anyone who perceives the blessings of this Night of Decree, or anyone who benefits from the company of the Mujaddid of the age, is better than an eighty year old man who failed to behold this blessed time. Even if he witnessed a single moment of this blessed era, it was better than his past one thousand months. Why is that moment better?

'Khalifatullah' appears with the 'Rooh-ul-Qudus'

The Promised Massih Hadhrat Ahmad (as) writes:

“Let it be known that it is the established custom of Allah that whenever a Messenger, a Prophet or an appointed recipient of Divine Revelation is sent for the reformation of mankind, it becomes imperative that he is accompanied by such angels who instill guidance in all loving hearts. They induce the hearts towards goodness.  They continue to descend until the darkness of profanity and corruption gives way to the break of the dawn of faith and truthfulness. The Almighty God says: “The angels and the Spirit descend upon them by the command of their Lord with their Lord’s decrees concerning every matter. It is all peace, till the break of the dawn”. (Surah Al Qadr, 97:5-6) .

So the appearance of the angels and the Holy Spirit only takes place at the advent of a person of distinction, who is dressed in the garb of Khilafat and honored with a direct communion with God. This Khalifa is specially gifted with the Holy Spirit and the angels in attendance are deputed to descend on all pious hearts. The reflection of this heavenly glow falls on people of receptive talent, and consequently the whole world is engulfed in the dazzle of this intense light.

As a result of the noble influence of the angels, the hearts of such people are voluntarily inclined towards virtuous thoughts and are thus charmed by the concept of the Unity of God. Upright hearts are charged with the inclination towards the search of truth. The spiritually frail are granted fortitude. Everywhere a breeze begins to blow which is supportive to the objectives of the Mujaddid. An invisible hand is beckoning humanity so that they of themselves are hastening towards that reform which will bring out the best of their talents. Mankind is in a state of agitation and stir in anticipation of what is to come.

Social Boycott by Ahmadis in Kerala

As Hadhrat Ahmad (as) famously noted:

See, a Mujaddid comes at the turn of every century. This is also a form of trial from Allah, the Most HighNow also a trial for Muslims is taking place. Allah, the Most High has sent a divinely raised one.”

- (Malfuzatvol.10, p.250).

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Kerala and elsewhere has come a long way from the days of persecution and struggle of the distant past. More than a century of existence has resulted in creeping materialism and decline of spiritual values within the Community. This is in spite of the presence of an elected spiritual leadership in the form of a Khalifa of the deceased Massih. No wonder, Allah has now revealed His time-testified Divine scheme by sending a new Mujaddid of the century in the person of Hadhrat Munir Ahmad Azim Sahib of Mauritius.

A Divine Reformer after Hadhrat Ahmad

Allah’s Covenant with the Prophets is very clearly stated in the Holy Qur'an:

And remember the time when Allah took the covenant from the people through the  Prophets, saying ‘Whatever I give you of the Book and Wisdom and then there comes to you a Messenger fulfilling that which is with you, you shall believe in him and help him’. And He said, ‘Do you agree, and do you accept the responsibility which I lay upon you in this matter?’ They said, “We agree” He said “Then bear witness, and I am with you among the witnesses”. (3:82).

Surely, there will come to you guidance from Me, then whoever follows My guidance, no fear shall come upon them, nor shall they grieve’. (2: 39)

Every Ahmadi Muslim believe that Hadhrat Ahmad (as) is a Messenger of Allah/ Divine Reformer appointed by Allah (swa). So, it is only reasonable to assume that such a divine covenant has been taken from Hadhrat Ahmad (as) as well. In fact, the Promised Massih (as) who wrote over 80 books, made several statements regarding the coming of divinely guided people in his Jamaat in future. For, Hadhrat Ahmad (as) did not come to discard, but to renew the message of the Holy Prophet (sa). In fact, that is what he did through all his teachings and that is why he said that Massihs will come after him. He even specifically declared that there is nothing abnormal or unusual about the spiritual situation if a Mujaddid follows him in the next century.
