Khalifatullah at Mathra Masjid

Imam- Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam International Hazrat Muhyi-ud-Din Al Khalifatullah Munir Ahmad Azim (aba) of Mauritius, and the International Sadr of the Siraj Makin Djawaharatul Kamal- the women’s wing of the Jamaat- Hazrat Ummul Mu’mineen Fazli Amena Varsally completed a historic visit to India between 16 January and 10 February 2023, Alhamdulillah. As reported earlier,  during this all-India visit, Hazrat Saheb (aba) and team found time to meet with disciples and followers in various parts of the country: visiting Tamil Nadu and Kerala in the south, and also in the north of India, visiting places such as Delhi, Chandigarh, Shimla, and Mumbai.

One of the highlights of the nearly-month long holy visit was the time spent at the Noor'ul Islam Masjid- Mathra, 21-28 January 2023, Alhamdulillah. By the grace and blessings of Allah (swt), this is the third visit of Hazrat Khalifatullah (aba) to the historic Masjid in Kerala in the last decade, Summa Alhamdulillah. Members of the Jamaat in Kerala still fondly remember Hazrat Khalifatullah (aba) and members of the pious household visiting the Mathra Masjid in January 2017, and also later in December 2018: both journeys took place under the will and pleasure of Almighty Allah. Indeed, the Jalsa (spiritual get-together that took place with the arrival of the Khalifatullah (aba)] at the Masjid brought so much joy and happiness to all disciples and followers present on these occasions, Masha Allah, Allah-u-Akbar!

Prophetic teachings note the significance of maintaining mutual relationships and beneficial exchanges: Visit each other periodically. It will increase your love. Exchange gifts, you’ll grow to love one another.” Once again, by the immense grace and blessings of Allah (swt), the visit of the Khalifatullah (aba) and Hazrat Ummul Mu’mineen Sadr Saheba to the Noor’ul Islam Masjid at Mathra- along with, and accompanied by, scores of disciples and followers from Tamil Nadu-, virtually created an atmosphere of spiritual festival (Jalsa) for all humble devotees and servants of God in this part of the world.

A lot of spiritually-infused activities took place at the Mathra Masjid and in its surroundings during those blessed days of the Holy visit: the believers got an exceptional chance to directly-listen to a number of spiritual discourses of Hazrat Saheb (aba), and also to offer Tahajjud prayers on a number of days as well as a Jumuah Namaz under his Imamat during this period.

Likewise, the Programmes at Mathra included the following: recitations of poems in praise of Allah (swt) and His Prophet (sa) and His Khalifa, the Khalifatullah (aba); meetings exhorting believers to improve the quantity as well as the quality of their mutual engagements; new resolutions for the refinement of the Jamaat system and its functioning; collective brainstorming on effective interventions for the benefit of the community and society at large through service to humanity initiatives such as visiting old-age home where elderly mothers are being taken care of by socially-conscientious persons from other communities, etc. Alhamdulillah, Summa Alhamdulillah.

Visiting each other, strengthening brotherly relations and fostering solidarity are considered among the highest virtues practiced by the inheritors of Paradise in Islam. An Ahadith reads: ‘Anas (ra) reported: The Prophet (sa) said, “No Muslim servant visits his brother for the sake of Allah but that a caller from the heavens announces: You are purified and Paradise is purified for you! Otherwise, Allah says in the realms of His throne: My servant has visited Me and his guest for My sake, so I am not pleased for him to have any reward other than Paradise.”  Indeed, Hazrat Khalifatullah’s visit was intended to foster and promote brotherly affection and cooperation among the disciples and followers in the country so that holding fast to the ‘rope of Allah’ in this era, the believers and their community could make a positive impact on wider society, Insha Allah, Aameen.

It is instructive to note in this context that during the early days of the Kerala Jamaat, Hazrat Khalifatullah (aba) received a very pertinent revelation from Allah:

‘Tell them O My Messiah: 'The richness of faith is found in a pure heart, true dedication to the cause of Allah and obedience to you as My representative and beloved Messenger of this era.'

Allah is pleased that such endeavours have been made by your disciples in Kerala to recognise you as My Messenger and the message brought by you to the world. Your humble prayers have been graced with divine attention. The Hands of Allah was over their hands, reaffirming their belief in you.

Tell them: 'Never let go of the rope of Allah, never turn your backs to the signs you received and the oath of allegiance you took, for then neither Allah nor the angels nor any living human or any creature can ever help you against Allah.'

Approval has come from your Lord, thus, make them close to you, as brethren of the same mother and advise them so that they may achieved spiritual insight and come closest to Allah. The Mighty and Wise is ever Watching. All Glory be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds.’

Mukarram Amir Jamaluddin Raother Saheb of Mathra led the Noor’ul Islam Masjid community in making preparations for and in welcoming the holy guests. Jamaat officials including Naib Amir and Coordinator of the Visit programme Mukarram Sulfikar Ali Saheb, Secretary-Finance DA Zainul Abdeen Saheb, Secretary-Taalim Sadiq Ali Saheb, Secretary-in charge of social media communications Zachariah Ibn Zain, Secretary Tarbiyyat Muhammad Sabir Saheb, and Secretary- Ziafat Muhammad Sudheer Saheb, Sadr Siraj Makin Fauzia Jamal Saheba, Sofiya Beevi Saheba, Rajeena Saheba, and Faezah Saheba participated in coordinating various functions during these days: may Allah (swt) bless them all in the best of ways for their sacrifices and services, Aameen.

Noor’ul Islam Masjid- Mathra

Perhaps readers might be curious about the origins of the present Noor’ul Islam Masjid at Mathra. The fascinating story this far can be broadly summarized in the following words: Originally built in the early years of the 15th century Hijri- in the second half of the 1980’s- by Mukarram R. Jamaluddin Raother Saheb of Mathra as a spiritual space of pure Tawheed- away from the prevailing Sunni Muslim doctrinal impurities and associated ritualistic practices bordering on Bid’ah and Shirk in the village- and for deep meditation and Divine invocations in seclusion; the modest and remarkably unostentatious prayer room became the hub of the Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya  activities once Jamaluddin Saheb became the first person from the area to embrace the spiritual mission of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) of Qadian, in February 1988.

Almost two decades later, with decadence and materialism eating into the vitals of Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya Qadian as an institutional empire, and Allah (swt) manifesting His Divine Will by raising an Elect in the shores of Africa, Jamaluddin Saheb once again adjusted his spiritual lens and embraced the new Divine Manifestation in Mauritius. In October 2010, with the acceptance of the spiritual claims of Hazrat Khalifatullah Munir Ahmad Azim (aba) as the Mujaddid and Muhyiuddin of the present era [the 15th century of Islam], and with the establishment of the Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam International in Kerala; for the third time in 40 years, the Mathra ‘Noor’ul Islam Masjid’- a name blessed and chosen by Hazrat Khalifatullah (aba)- renewed its spiritual mission of pure Tawheed, Subhaan Allâh, Alhamdulillah, Allah-u-Akbar!
