Youth Activism for a Better Society

Youth is an invaluable asset for a nation since it guarantees their safety and hope. Unfortunately, today, we find that the Muslim youths, especially in Mauritius are too focused on themselves. If you ask them what they do during the holidays, they will answer unanimously: Tuitions, TV, Facebook, going out with friends in shopping malls etc.

Does youth comes down to this? Rare are the people who practice other activities. Similarly, in colleges, there are a significant number of absentees on the day when the school decides for example, to do a charitable activity as students prefer to stay home to work out test papers, to do their tuition homework, or worse, to go out and have fun with friends. They do not realize what they are losing because precisely our Islamic training recommends us to be generous and to help one another, to defend just causes and to work for the good of humanity. The Muslim youth must share and affirm the values he believes in by taking part voluntarily and actively in community life.

Social engagement has countless benefits on the psychological level. There is first a better understanding among people from different backgrounds. Today, the youth with material wealth remains in a (too protected/spoiled) cocoon with his studies, his latest mobile, gadgets and connection on social networks (Facebook, Twitter etc.) without having an idea of the difficulties faced by others who are worse off, like the poor, the sick, the disabled, the illiterate, the orphan, and the list is long. It is by putting himself at their service that he can mature both physically and emotionally.

'Jalsa Salana' Address to the Kerala Jamaat

My dear brothers, sisters and children of the Kerala Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam,

Assalamoualaikum Warahmatullah Wabarakaatuhu.

It is a great pleasure for me to address you for your Annual Jalsa Salana in Mathra, South Kerala. I may be far away from you, but you are very close to my heart, in my thoughts and prayers.

Today, I have chosen to talk to you about the need for believers to remain ever true and sincere to their faith. Remember my dear ones, there shall be a thousand, nay a million trial which shall inevitably cross your path, but when you choose to trust in Allah, and keep firm in your faith, and at the same time strive to give your best for the propagation of the message of Allah in the four corners of the world, then definitely Allah shall become your closest Friend and Support, and help you through all ordeals in life.

The time you are living is not an ordinary time. Allah has chosen you in this era and guided you and then placed you in His Jamaat, under the leadership of His Messenger, the Khalifatullah. You are not ordinary people. You may think you are ordinary out of your humility, but indeed you are exceptional, and in each and every one of you – provided you are truly sincere – is found the light of different talents which Allah has vouchsafed you to help His cause and message to propagate in the four corners of the world.

A visit to Rodrigues: Thabligh Diary

At the heart of the Indian Ocean, at latitude 19°43’ S and longitude 63°25’ E, Rodrigues Island stretches over a surface area of 108 km2, some 650 km to the north-east of Mauritius. It is the part of Africa that is closest to Australia. Born from volcanic activity between 1.3 and 1.5 million years ago, the island – 18 km long, 8 km wide – is the smallest of the Mascarene archipelago.

Rodrigues is a mountainous island with a succession of valleys plunging to the 300 km2 lagoon. Its population is now around 39,500 people, the majority of them are Christians and they work as fishermen, traders and craftsmen. Rodrigues Island is till date a dependency of Mauritius, though Mauritius has given it an autonomy whereby some decisions are taken in the Regional Assembly of Rodrigues.

Alhamdulillah, Summa Alhamdulillah, the Messenger of Allah arrived in Rodrigues in the morning of Saturday 09 August 2014. As in his habit, losing no time, the Khalifatullah (atba) after briefly refreshing himself launched into Jamaat works. A special meeting was held with the members of the Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam, in view of the Jamaat projects planned and also concerning the activities of the Jamaat during the stay of Huzur (atba) in Rodrigues.

Do not fight with God and His Messenger

Allah (swt) has several beautiful names. These are the attributes that He possesses. I shall mention briefly two of these attributes: Al-Khafidh, which means the One who humiliates and, Ar-Rafi, the One who elevates. Almighty Allah has the capacity to degrade/humiliate someone or to elevate him, raising him in position. It is Almighty Allah who has the power to degrade someone by dishonouring him and to elevate him and making him honourable.

Man is ever changing. He does not stay the same. There is a time when he is young, courageous and solid, and after the passage of time, he becomes unrecognizable. You may see that his courage has disappeared and he has lost his charm. In the past people used to need him and rush to him, and now nobody knows that he exists. Dreams become reality and reality becomes a thing of the past. Therefore, there is the high and low in life, and all this is found in the hand of Allah the Almighty.

Do you know who you are? All the noises/publicity/boasting that you are making… you can be a Minister, Prime Minister or a King. You can be whatever you want to be, but do you know that you are a slave? All the bossing around that you do, but verily you shall always remain a slave. You shall live like a slave and die as a slave. You shall never succeed in liberating yourself from that slavery. What remains to be known is what kind of slave are you! If you are not a slave for ALLAH, then you must be in a way or another, a slave of another thing/person. You can become slave of your passions, desires and vices. Then, if you have to be a slave, why do you become a slave for another slave? Why do you become a slave who makes you become the worst of slaves?

Being Good or Bad : Islamic Human Values

Islam has established a number of fundamental rights, valid for all humanity and must be observed and respected under all circumstances. To this end, Islam provides not only legal guarantees but also a very effective moral system. Thus in Islam anything that leads to the well-being of the individual or society is morally good, and everything that is injurious to him/it is morally bad. Islam attaches so much importance to the love of God and love of man that it warns against too much formalism. We read in the Holy Qur’an:  “Virtue does not consist in turning your faces towards the east or the west; virtuous are those who believe in God and the Last Day, the angels and the Book and the prophets, who give for the love of God help to their relatives and to orphans and the needy and travellers, and those who ask, who free captives, who observe prayer, who practice alms-giving, who fulfill the commitment they assume, who show patience in adversity, in hard times and in times of violence. Those are just and fear the Lord.” (2: 178)

We have here a beautiful description of the righteous and God-fearing believer, who obeys to (and implements) the salutary precepts, but without ceasing to gaze upon the love of God and love of as fellow human beings. We have received four precepts:

a) Our faith should be true and sincere.
b) We must be prepared to show it by acts of charity towards our fellow human beings.
c) We must be good citizens.
d) Our soul must be firm and steadfast in all circumstances.

This is the criterion upon which all individual behaviour is judged as good or bad. This criterion is somehow the nucleus around which revolve all the elements that constitute the moral conduct of each person. Before establishing moral precepts, Islam seeks to firmly implant in man’s heart the conviction that he is in constant contact with God who sees him at all times and in all places, that he can hide from the world, but not of Him; he can fool anyone, but not God, he can escape the clutches of anyone except God.

Khalifatullah visits Reunion Island

June 2014: Dawa Highlights

Day One
Alhamdulillah, upon reaching Reunion Island, the Khalifatullah(atba) was warmly welcomed by the Vice-President of the Jamaat. There was a good interaction between the two and our respected brother took Huzur(atba) to refresh himself before the start of the mini-Jalsa Salana (half-day) to be held after Zuhr prayer.

Jalsa Salana Programme:

v  Quran Recitation (with translation) by our brother Mohamed Ahmad.
v  An Opening/Welcoming Speech by the Vice-President of the Jamaat.
v  A speech by the Sadr Siraj Makin of the Reunion Jamaat axed on the role of women of the Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam in the modern society.
v  A break of 20 minutes spent in our members & guests from various religious denominations meeting with the Messenger of Allah(atba).

o   Diner & Salat-ul-Maghrib/Esha in congregation.

v  Quran Recitation (with translation) by our brother Ismaël.
v  Closing Speech by Hazrat Khalifatullah Munir A. Azim(atba).
v  Collective Prayer (duas) & refreshments.

The Mini-Jalsa Salana ended at around 20.45pm, and everybody returned home satisfied and thankful to Allah that they have got the opportunity to meet with Huzur(atba) twice in a year. Alhamdulillah.

Day Two

Huzur(atba) and some of our members spent the day in Dawa at Sainte Clotilde. In the course of the Dawa expedition, he encountered a Mourid Imam with whom he got a clash on the matter of religion. Later on, he met with a Muslim (a Shiite Mullah) at Moufia and there itself was held a question and answers session on the death of Jesus Christ(as), to which many people assisted. The Khalifatullah(atba) exposed to him several verses of the Holy Quran and other proofs from the Hadiths but despite all this, the Mullah refused to acknowledge the truth exposed by the Holy Quran on the subject. He even sought to deviate the people who were witnessing the debate from the true viewpoint of the Holy Quran which the Khalifatullah(atba) sought to make apparent.

2013- Jalsa Salana in Kerala: A Report

Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam Kerala observed its second Jalsa Salana at the historic Noorul Islam Masjid, Mathra, 22-23 December 2013. Brothers from Palakkad, Alappuzha and Kaliyikkavila, and also from Delhi, reached ahead of the scheduled formal commencement of the two-day programme.   Registration proceedings ended at 11.00 AM on December 22nd, and the Inaugural Session started with the Recitation of the Qur’an (Tilawat-ul Qur’an) by DA Zainul Abdeen Sahib. K. Salim Sahib offered a formal welcome note to everyone present on the occasion.

Fazil Jamal Sahib chaired the Inaugural Session. He observed that the Promised Massih (as) in the previous era and the Khalifatullah (atba) in our times, have attached  much imporatnce to the Jalsa Salana as an occassion to come, stay and pray together in an atmosphere of brotherly affection and friendly discussion about various spiritual matters and religious questions. Strengthening our faith and beliefs in solidarity with like-minded people becomes possible through our active and informed participation in the Jalsa proceedings, he noted.

Mukarram Amir Jamaluddin Sahib inaugurated the Jalsa Salana programme. In his speech, the Amir Sahib pointed to the trials of faith that are around us, in each moment of our lives. Drawing on Qur’anic verses, the Amir Sahib stated that belivers are to stand tall amidst the chaos and crisis that their close relatives and family membvers may manufacture. As a consequence, angels will descend on them conveying inner contentment, peace and tranquility in this very world when they are otherwise engulfed by the enemies.

Accusations against the Muhyi-ud-Din

The Khilafat system in the Jamaat-e- Ahmadiyya was initially and originally thought of as an interim, mundane institutional arrangement to carry on with the work of propagating the Sahih-al-Islam till the arrival of Divinely-raised Khalifa (Khalifatullah). Yet, in course of time, its self-declared custodians trampled to dust the original teachings of the Promised Massih (as) and arbitrarily elevated the man-made system and unjustly dismissed a Divine prerogative (of raising His Khalifa in a new century) into oblivion. Yet, Allah (twa) does what He will- He raised His own Khalifa in the new century of Islam, regardless of the mundane preoccupations of a temporal system. Slowly, but surely the tide is turning, with the Ahmadis in India and elsewhere themselves being able to recognize the truth of the Divine Project at work and accepting the Divine Messenger, creating panic and anxiety in the rank and file of Nizam-e-Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya .

In the aftermath of recent instances of members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in India taking Bai’ats at the hands of the Muhyi-ud-Din, the mercenaries of the Jamaat-e- Ahmadiyya (Mullahs, Maulvis and leaders) are hell-bent on ruining their spiritual lives: in their misguided bullishness, they seek to deviate unsuspecting common folks from following the path of the Messenger of Allah of our times by assassinating his character (God forbid). They spread the lie that the Muhyi-ud-Din is a “Bimaari” (“mentally sick person”). Other imbeciles are spreading canards, casting aspersions on the sexual morality of a Divine Messenger. In his Friday Sermon of August 30, 2013 the Khalifatullah, Muhyi-ud-Din Hadhrat Munir Ahmad Azim Sahib (atba) of Mauritius spent some time responding to the wild accusations being given currency to, by a number of adversaries of the Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam in recent times.

Islam and Human Rights

In his special sermon of October 05, 2012 on the occasion of the Annual Conference [“JALSA SALANA”] of the Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam International, the Khalifatullah Hadhrat Munir Ahmad Azim Sahib (atba) of Mauritius reflected on the fundamental values on which the edifice of human society is constituted. Paying rich tributes to the idea of human freedom and individual liberty from an Islamic perspective,  Hadhrat Sahib underscores the profound correlation between the recognition of identity and individual rights and societal peace and progress.

Read the Extracts from the Sermon:

A society is made up of a number of individuals. That’s why Islam has provided a lot of directions for the freedom, progress and protection of the individual. The individual has been granted full liberty of conscience by this revelation to the Prophet (saw): “LA IKRAHA FIDDIN” There’s no compulsion in religion.

Each member has a mind of his own and is free to make his own choice. Man has been granted a free will and he can make use of his own judgement. He is not an automation directed by a blind force. This freedom of conscience, this liberty to choose and make our own destiny, that has been granted to every individual member as his birthright is considered – and justly so – to be the greatest blessing of God to humanity.
