The riches of 'Sabr'

Alhamdulillah, on the blessed occasion of the 8th Jalsa Salana of Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam- Tamil Nadu (India), International Sadr of the Siraj Makin [- the women’s wing of the Jamaat] Hazrat Ummul Mu’mineen Fazli Amena Varsally Saheba of Mauritius addressed the spiritual gathering at the historic Sirajum Munir Masjid through a special message on 29 December 2024. For the benefit of our readers, we reproduce below the Text of the Speech:

‘My dear Spiritual Children,

Assalamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullah Wa Barakaatuhu.

You all need to bear in mind the riches of Sabr (Patience). Life on earth is a temporary abode which only the Sabereen (those endowed with patience) know how to tread upon and live it.

Allah says in the Holy Quran: 'And be patient, for indeed, Allah does not allow to be lost the reward of those who do good.' (Surah Hud,  11, Verse 116)

A true believer makes countless efforts to remain on the right path. The right path is not an easy path. It is filled with all kinds of turns and obstacles and trials, but it is only those who persevere and remain true and sincere to Allah and strive through steadfastness and trust in Allah to continue on their way shall be victorious.

Life is a challenge which is won by those who are patient and who trust in Allah. Trust in Allah gives life to Sabr (Patience). You must keep in mind that despite the challenges and difficulties you may face, you should remain steadfast and patient. In a Hadith of our beloved prophet Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh), it has been narrated that he said that patience is a light. (Muslim)

How can patience be a light?

It is when the true servant of Allah relies only on Allah and not on creatures for his needs. Despite the countless trials and difficulties, that servant of Allah uses his patience as a shield against all evils and difficulties. Then he finds out that patience became Allah personified, that is to say that Allah, the Source of all patience and being Himself the Patient One is with him to awaken his consciousness to the beauties of proximity with Him. So, when someone relies on Allah, every difficulty becomes fairly easy. At first it may seem like an unmountable mountain, where the believer cannot reach the other side safely, but then he finds out that with his Sabr (Patience), every door opens to ease his way to Allah.

Remember that life on earth is very temporary, and Allah has promised good rewards for those who take patience, surmount all difficulties with a smile and trust in Allah and where the doors of Allah’s grace and mercy are opened for them.

O you my Spiritual Children. Do not feed your souls with vain things. Feed your souls the right kind of foods which will benefit them. And among those goods are the Remembrance of Allah and Patience.

Man’s nature is restlessness and weakness, but it is only the Sabereen (patient ones) who can lock that weakness and strive for perfection, but of course, we cannot 100% become perfect, but we should all try to perfect ourselves through prayer, trust in Allah and patience.

I hope and pray that Allah makes you among those who attain to patience and remain on the path of patience, and devote your lives to the Cause of Allah with greatness of heart, humility and devotion.

 Jazak-Allah for your attention,

Wassalaam,

Allah Hafiz
