Family Duties of the Muslim

  

‘All of you are guardians and all of you are responsible for your subjects. A man is the guardian in his home and responsible for his wards and a woman in her home is a guardian and responsible for her wards.’ ---Prophet Muhammad (sa) [Reported by Al-Bukhari in his Sahih, Chapter: Friday prayer in villages and towns, 1/248-249: Hadith 893].

‘Indeed Allah will question everyone who is responsible about his charge, whether kept or lost.’ [Reported by Al-Tirmidhi in his Sunan, Book of Jihad, Chapter: Regarding the imam, 4/208, on the authority of Anas ibn Malik].

'The world is a provision, and the best of its provisions is a good wife.'

‘The conditions that have the greatest right to be completely fulfilled are those which make the private parts of women legal to you.’ 

'When a man spends money on his family as a good deed, then for him it is a sacred act of charity.'

'You will not spend anything seeking the favour of Allah without being rewarded for it, even what you provide for your wife.'

‘If your wife asks permission to go to the mosque, do not forbid her’.

'The most perfect of  believers in terms of faith is the most decent of them in terms of character. And the most decent of you are those who are best to their wives.'   

Someone asked Hazrat Aisha (ra) what the Prophet (sa) used to do at home. She said, ‘He used to remain occupied working for his family, then would go out when he heard the call to prayer.’

‘Fear God and treat your children equally.’

‘When the glad news of the birth of their daughter is brought to them, their faces turn gloomy and black with anger. They try to hide themselves from the people because of the disgrace of such news. Will they keep their newborn despite the disgrace or bury it alive? How sinful is their judgment!’ ---The  Holy Qur’an (16: 59-60).

'Whosoever has a female infant and does not bury her or weep over her, and does not prefer the male sons over her, Allah will admit him to heaven’.  [Reported by Abu Dawud in his Sunan, Book of Manners, Chapter: Benefits of caring for an orphan, 4/339-340, Hadith 5146, on the authority of Ibn Abbas].

'Be kind to your children and perfect their manners.'

 

[Reported by Ibn Majih in his Sunan, Book of Manners, Chapter: Righteous treatment of the father and kindness to daughters. 2/2211h, 3671, on the authority of Anas].

'Whoever has three daughters or three sisters and teaches them knowledge and manners until Allah provide for them otherwise, he will certainly attain Heaven.' Then some of the Companions asked him, “Or two daughters or two sisters, O Messenger of Allah?” to which he answered, “Or two daughters or two sisters”. [Sharh Al-Sunnah by Abi Muhammad Al-Hussaini Al-Bakhouri, 13/44, on the authority of Ibn Abbas].

‘The testing of a believer, male or female, in respect to one’s person, children, and property will not cease until one meets Allah the Exalted unburdened by any sin.’

‘O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones, over which are [appointed] angels, harsh and severe; they do not disobey Allah in what He commands them but do what they are commanded.’ (66:7)

'The just will be on platforms of light in the presence of Allah; those who are just in their decisions, with their families, and with what they are in charge of.'

‘O Allah, fill our homes with forgiveness and well-being;

O Allah, remove the calamities and causes of misery from our homes;

O Allah, do not leave in our homes a worry except that you relieve us, nor a sick person except that you heal him; nor an affliction except that you recover him, nor a religion except that you fulfilled it, or a child except that you fixed it, nor an infertile person that you bestowed upon him with Your mercy, O Most Generous of the Generous!’-  [A prayer made and taught by Hazrat Khalifatullah Munir Ahmad Azim (aba), Imam- Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam International].
