In the beginning of the year 2001, Allah chose a spiritual progeny of the Promised Massih (as) Hadhrat Munir Ahmad Azim Sahib of Mauritius as His Chosen Messenger of our times- at a time when the world was about to enter the Third Millennium of the Christian Era and the Muslim world had firmly entered the Fifteenth century. In a post- Communist world order, Islam became the new enemy of the ‘Liberal’, ‘Democratic’, western, Christian, "free world". More than ever, Islam as a religion and Muslims as a community is under relentless attack from varying forces. So, the appearance of the new Messenger of Allah could not have been more timely and necessary.
If we look at the history of prophethood, it was at the age of forty that the Holy Prophet of Islam Muhammad (sa) began to receive messages from the Unseen and was raised to that august spiritual position through recurring Divine revelations. Like wise, the Promised Massih Hadhrat Ahmad (as) was also blessed with Divine revelations by the time he was forty years of age. It is remarkable to note that Allah, the Exalted chose to elevate the spiritual status of Munir Ahmad Azim Sahib by the time he turned forty years of age in 2001.
“People will gather around the Mahdi in 1400”. (Risalat al-Khuruj al-Mahdi, p. 108). In another Hadith, the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sa) said:
“Count two or three decades after the decades of Hijri 1400. At that time, the Mahdi emerges...” (Asmal Masalik Lieyyam Mahdiyy Maliki Li Kull-id Dunya Biemrillah-il Malik, Qalda bin Zayd, p. 216)
In the last decade, Allah, the Most High bestowed many titles on Munir Ahmad Azim Sahib- “Hadhrat”, “Amir’ul Mu’mineen”, “Muhyi-ud-Din”, “Mujaddid”, “Khalifatullah”, “Nabiullah” and “Rasulullah”. In a recent Friday Sermon, Hadhrat Khalifatullah (atba) observed:
In December 2003, proclaiming that Allah had made him the Muhyi-ud-Din/ Mujaddid of this era, Hadhrat Munir Ahmad Azim Sahib (atba) stated:
“I want neither pelf nor power. I have been commissioned by Allah as a Warner unto mankind, to deliver His Message to you. Should you accept it, you shall have felicity in this life as well as in the life to come. Should you reject the word of Allah, surely Allah will decide between you and me. As from today, I take Allah as my witness that I am the Muhyi-ud-Din of this era.”
“If we analyse these Hadiths, all these points in the direction of my epoch, my coming. I was expelled from the Nizam-e-Jamaat Ahmadiyya on 01 January 2001 (that is, 1421 Hijri). We are now in 1432 Hijri and I made my proclamation as Amir’ul Momeneen on 19 January 2003 (that is, 1423 Hijri), Muhyi-ud-Din on 06 December 2003 (that is, 1423 Hijri), Khalifatullah on 26 May 2008 (that is, 1429 Hijri) and Messiah, Mujaddid and Prophet of Allah officially (though I already received these revelations beforehand until Allah made me stand up to proclaim it officially) in 2010 (that is, 1431 Hijri)”.

Ever since the advent of Hadhrat Munir Ahmad Azim Sahib (atba) of Mauritius, as the Mujaddid of this era among the Ahmadi Muslims in Africa, and especially with the establishment of the Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam fractions and branches in Asia- India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, etc.- the spiritual environment in the Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya circles have become vibrant and charged. In the last decade and more, with the help of Messages from the Unseen and other Divine revelations, the Muhyi-ud-Din Al Khalifatullah of this age has been addressing the believers, general Muslims and the followers of other religions- Christians, Jews, the Hindus and the Buddhists- on pure belief in Tawheed and all aspects of leading a meaningful, spiritual life in our especially complex, contemporary times. He has been counselling and cautioning the world leaders on the need for moderation and balance, tolerance and amity, justice and peace for facilitating a shared living in our small, but troubled world.
Divine
Revelations : Precepts in
the Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya...
As the Qur’an emphatically declares, the raising of
a Divine servant being a prerogative of Allah the Almighty, it is incumbent
upon all believers to accept and help the lofty mission of a spiritual Master
whenever such a one arrives among them. It is very natural, then, that many devout
Ahmadis have begun their personal study of what it means to be an Ahmadi and a
Muslim in a new century, especially with the advent of someone who says he
comes from Allah and who confirms what we know as the explanations of the
Promised Massih (as) on the teachings of Islam and wants to renew the faith of
all believers in Islam by being a practical model for them in their everyday
lives. There is, thus, ground for sincere hope and a spiritual expectation that
the teachings familiar in the Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya
and the spiritual intuition of individual Ahmadis would invariably lead
them to the recognition of the Divine Reformer, with the trickling down of
information and knowledge about the Divine Manifestation in Mauritius, in
Africa, Insha Allah.
Members
of the Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya, outside of Mauritius, brought
up as they are on steady stream of literature on the continuity of Divine
revelations in spiritual theory, would find it extremely
hard to believe, that someone could be expelled from the Jamaat for
being a recipient of Divine revelations. As it happened in India in 2010, when
the Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam was established in the state of Kerala
in the south of India, some Ahmadis completely rejected this possibility. After eloquently explaining the
fundamental beliefs in the Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya that Divine revelations will continue
till the Day of Judgement, ahmadi brother Shabeeb
Haneef Sahib of Kerala, who was specially
authorized by the Ahmadi youth wing leaders in Kerala to discuss the matter
with us, wrote:
"....I really don’t get the point when it is being alleged that
any person, moreover an ahmadi, was rusticated from Nizaam-e- Jamath just
because of the reason that he received revelations. Because Hazrath
Khalifathul Maseeh IV (rahmahullahu alaihi) as well as Hazrath Khalifathul
Maseeh V(atba) has always been repeatedly saying about common ahmadis, who have
been experiencing true dreams and revelations, throughout their various
speeches and Khuthbas. So it is quite impossible to simply accept the
allegation that an ahmadi was suspended from Nizam - e- jamath just because he received revelations. There
must be something else that is not evident to us at the moment.”
....versus the actual Practice in the Jamaat
What is unclear to the
common folks is very clear to the mandarins in the Jamaat-e-
Ahmadiyya. All Prophets and Divine
Reformers raised in the past has had a brush with the ritual elites of the day
who sought to dominate the people and control all mundane authority in
themselves. Put differently, at the time of the advent of a Divine Reformer,
the condition of religious decadence will have reached such a state that the society may have become a wasteland of spirituality. When the recipient of
Divine revelations is raised by Allah (twa), the religious elite at the helm of affairs in the
land will show arrogance and contempt for the message of the Divine.
Instead of
showing obedience to the grandeur of Divine Will and Decree, these will
behave like the army of the Satan, claiming superiority for themselves.
They will seek to pounce upon the Divine servant through their machinations and wily plots, unleashing the fires of insinuation,
back-biting and jealousy. By all devious means at their disposal, the
religious vultures seek to devour their blessed brothers while they are still
alive among them. This is exactly what happened in the case of the present
Divine Manifestation as well. In the context of the
Divine Manifestation in Mauritius, the religious thugs in the Nizam-e-Jamaat sought to extinguish the Light of
Allah coming down through Hadhrat Sahib (atba) in our times. Like in the
times of Hadhrat Musa (as), the Pharoahs, the Hamans and the
Korahs – chieftains, priestly class and the elites- issued
a charge sheet and their
mundane expulsion order against this servant of
God for the simple reason that he is a recipient of Divine revelations.
When Allah (twa) began to grace His servant with a series
of Divine revelations and spiritual inspirations of extraordinary quality, the
servile creatures at the helm of affairs twisted these instances
of Heavenly Mercy as an occasion to get even with a Daai-Illallah, whose preaching efforts
had been recognized, admired and applauded by the Caliph himself. When an
Ahmadi who was aware of the fact of revelations descending on
Hadhrat Munir Sahib mentioned the same to the Jamaat administration in
Mauritius for the collective benefit of all the Ahmadis, they attributed
ambitions of power and authority on a Divine servant and His spiritual messages
were interpreted as an unfolding "Fitna against the spirit of the Nizam-e-Jamaat".
Like the rats smelling a mischief opportunity, the jealous
chieftains found a way to assert their worship of the man-elected-man and
position themselves as the great defenders of Islam Ahmadiyya and the "Quibla
to Allah", which they called Khilafat". They plotted like the brethren of Joseph (as): Assassination of a person is the worst form of ‘censoring’ his
ideas. They hatched that an expulsion from the Nizam-e-Jamaat would and
could serve the same purpose, in the case of this recipient of Divine
revelations. Put differently, for the
"crime" of Divine revelations, expulsion from the Nizam-e-Jamaat is
the equivalent of a religious execution. (We have extensively documented the criminality of the Ahmadi elites.

Consumed by the hallucinations induced by the self-serving,
inflated and unreal, mechanic reports of "millions" of Bai'at in the Jamaat at that point of time, the then,
ageing fourth Khalifa took a hasty decision within days of the report to endorse
the expulsion. Unbelievable as it might sound, his decision was doomed on
slippery grounds as he did not bother to check the accuracy, reliability and veracity
of the Report, nor to seek a clarification on the allegations, if not, hear out
the real, aggrieved party in the situation, who has been unfairly targeted by
his own religious establishment. Like most people who persecute
Divine servants, the real significance of the Divine Messages descenting on
Hadhrat Munir Ahmad Azim Sahib at that point of time completely escaped the
Fourth Khalifa, due to the blurring of vision induced by the circumstances of
bad advice and other human fallibilities. Without thinking through and
weighing the circumstances and larger issues in the present case- which involved the question of Revelations from Allah (swt)
on a righteous spiritual progeny of the Promised Massih (as), the
Khalifa committed a historic,
administrative blunder. But for his subsequent departure from this world after
that fatal decision- had he been alive in this decade- perhaps the Fourth
Khalifa could have acknowledged his lapse of judgement and realized
the flawed perception he adopted in this grave matter. May Allah
forgive him for that astounding hubris in sending up a curse on an Elect of
Allah. (For other writings on the Fourth Khalifa, including on
the "Bai'at in millions" episode and a critique of
his views on Mujaddidiyat, click here: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 ).
That Allah (twa) had put that mundane curse on the dustbin of
history is evident in many different ways today. After all, 13 years have
gone and truth can no more remain hidden in a small world. The
fraudulence of the Mauritius Amir (and also his other crimes), with whose charge-sheet and
report the fourth Caliph chose to go along and endorse the expulsion, were not only unveiled
by the fullness of time in the last decade, but he was also thrown out from his
chair. Crimes were such that the present Caliph had to liquidate him from his
office position on serious charges of financial corruption and blatant
nepotism. And thus, those who facilitated and conspired in the
despicable crime against an Elect of Allah had been consumed by a record of
evil doing among their own people. Viewed in retrospect, there is little doubt that
the religious criminals in the Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya in Mauritius are
not just guilty of questionable integrity and nepotism and financial
fraudulence. Those who facilitated the Report embarrassed and
blemished the record of the Fourth Khalifa as well. While the Khalifa's earthly
career ended shortly after he uttered and sent the Mubahila prayer
against the Divine servant in his very lifetime, on
the contrary, the Mission of the Divine servant has progressed step
by step, Alhamdulillah.
Ruminating
on his personal life and the present spiritual Mission, Hadhrat Sahib once
stated:
"For now, what I can tell
you and the world, is that my academic education is very limited, and that
since a child I had in me a profound love to serve the religion of Allah, and
that is why my time was spent mostly in the mosque (since 7 years old), and following
the missionaries and tabligh volunteers (in my early teens) to go and preach
Islam in all parts of Mauritius. It is the same love to spread the message of
Islam and Ahmadiyyat (the good news of the advent of the Promised Messiah (as))
which made me serve the Ahmadiyya Jamaat. Every human needs to feed himself and
his family. As I needed a job, what was better for me than to work for my own
Jamaat? Despite difficult
times which I was bound to go through, but this experience today has proved to
be fruitful for this humble self because Allah made me witnessed
how the officials and other people from the Jamaat of the Promised Messiah (as)
have fallen prey to the luring of Satan.
My love for Allah, I
keep it in my heart and soul, but that love surged forth to such an extent that
Allah admitted me in His mercy and chose me as His humble Messenger. Even
though I am a weak human, but Allah so desired to elevated me to my present
spiritual status. What I can assure the world is that a sinner I am, but had not
it been for the grace of Allah on me, I would have been ruined. I am a human,
but Allah made me His Messenger. Should you discard all your arrogance, and
pretension to knowledge and superiority to other people, should you love Allah and worship
Him alone instead of this temporal world, therefore you shall have felicity in
both worlds..."
It is, in a way, not at all surprising that his own people- the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community- officially rejected him. In the past, Prophets had only been treated in the same ways. By their own communities and peoples! If anything, the summary expulsion from the Community and the social boycott applied against him only confirmed the terminal decline in the moral standards of the Community and the wisdom of Allah’s decision to raise a Warner among them.
