Prophecy Continous: On 'Musleh Ma'ud'

The Messiah’s Promised Son

We express our gratitude to Allah, Who, through His boundless mercy, has always sent guidance in the form of His Books, His laws, and His prophets, messengers, revivers of faith, and reformers of His religion. When we reflect on the countless blessings Allah has bestowed upon humanity, we realise that we could never fully thank Him for all of them.

When we study the Holy Quran, we find that Allah has honoured the Ummah of Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh) with an exceptional distinction: Allah Himself established Islam as His perfect religion and named it Islam. Within Islam, unlike the nations of the past where Allah’s messengers and prophets were sent only to their respective peoples, we see that for Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh) and all his spiritual progeny, this favour continues until the Day of Judgement. Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh) and his spiritual descendants, the prophets of Allah from his Ummah, were sent not only for the people among whom he was born but for all of humanity.

After Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh), Allah blessed his Ummah and all of humanity with the advent of  Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) of Qadian, a small and remote village in India. He came as a prophet-reformer, which means that he and all those who came after Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh)—like this humble servant standing before you – cannot bring new divine laws. We receive divine revelations containing Allah’s instructions, yes, but these are not revelations that form a new sacred book like the Quran. The Holy Quran remains the final book of divine law, and all prophet-reformers of Islam are sent whenever people deviate from the teachings of Islam. Allah sends messengers and prophets like Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) and me to correct these errors and guide people back to the right path. The Quran remains the Quran, the perfect word of Allah, and the divine revelations granted to us, the followers of Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh), who have been favoured by Allah to become prophet-reformers, are revelations meant to guide people in our respective eras and to support and direct them towards the teachings of the Holy Quran.

The Holy Quran speaks of the miracles of supplication. It tells of how, when Allah’s prophets thought all was lost, and the disbelievers seemed to be overwhelming them and the believers, they turned to Allah in their most difficult moments, seeking His powerful help. Allah then manifested His mighty miracles in their favour, proving their truthfulness.

In the era of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as), there were numerous episodes and testimonies of miracles. One extraordinary miracle and acceptance of supplication was his plea to Allah for a pious son to be born to him, from his own seed, who would inherit his prophetic and messianic essence and be a splendour among the people of his time. A prophet’s supplication can manifest in various ways. Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as), as you know, was the Messiah of his time and the Seal of the Saints (Khatam-al-Awliya). The children from his first marriage did not accept him – his truth –  during his lifetime. He had two sons, Mirza Fazl Ahmad and Mirza Sultan Ahmad, but both refused to believe in his truthfulness, and one of them even passed away without accepting him.

In his sincere plea to Allah, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) desired a blessed son. Allah accepted his intention and promised him that his desire would be fulfilled if he retired to Hoshiarpur, where he was to remain in seclusion and supplicate. Allah would accept his prayers. Indeed, he followed the divine instructions and went to Hoshiarpur towards the end of January 1886.

As a result, Allah granted him the promised son in the person of Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmud Ahmad (ra). What is remarkable about his life is that Allah said about him: “...He will be extremely intelligent and understanding and will be meek of heart and will be filled with secular and spiritual knowledge...”

In his youth, academically, he did not excel much, but spiritually, he was so blessed by Allah that he began receiving his first revelation at the age of 16, in the year 1905. What was that revelation? “I shall exalt those who follow you above those who disbelieve until the Day of Judgement.”

Allah fulfilled His promise, elevated his rank, and made him the second Caliph of the Ahmadiyya movement. In 1944, Allah made him directly understand that he himself was the promised son. On 28 January 1944, during his Friday sermon, Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmud Ahmad (ra) proclaimed that he was the ‘promised son’ mentioned in the prophecy concerning Musleh Ma’ud. Since that day, he openly declared this in several public gatherings, stating that his proclamation was based on numerous divine revelations and dreams shown to him by Allah.

However, he also said in his meeting in Hoshiarpur on 20 February 1944:

“I do not claim that I am the only Promised One and that no other Promised Ones will come until the Day of Judgement. It is apparent from the prophecies of the Promised Messiah that other Promised Ones will come, and some of them may even appear after centuries. Indeed, Allah has told me that there will come a time when He will send me again into this world, and I shall come for the reformation of the world in an era when Shirk (associating partners with Allah) will have become widespread. This means that my soul will, at a certain time, descend upon someone who will possess qualities and capabilities like mine, and he will, following in my footsteps, bring about reformation in the world. Thus, Promised Ones will appear in their appropriate times according to Allah’s promise.”

Here, the second coming of a person is metaphorical. The soul of Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmud Ahmad (ra) will not literally return to another body, but it means that Allah will choose a soul similar to his, who will come from Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) and from him, as a spiritual son, for the reformation of the world.

Firstly, we see a Messiah supplicating for a reformer son, and then we see that reformer son affirming that Allah has told him there will be other reformers like him. In other words, Allah will continue to bless the Ummah of Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh) through the faithful followers of His Messiah and his promised son, who will appear as other Promised Ones. In accordance with this promise of Allah, in addition to Allah making me the Messiah of this century, He gave me the glad tidings on 20 February 2004 that I am the Musleh Ma’ud (the Promised Reformer) of this century.

Allah has blessed a father and his son in an extraordinary way, and He has made me come from their own spiritual community, within the Ummah of our beloved Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh), to bring about the much-needed reformation in this century. However, what the world does not understand is that they expect a Messiah who will shed blood, whereas the true work of a Messiah, of a Prophet, is to raise his hands in supplication, and it is Allah Who manifests His miracles. Today, we [in the general sense of the word] do not live in a society where nations and peoples can declare wars to defend territories. Today, that power lies in the hands of Christian, Jewish, and Muslim nations who have placed their material gains above the true cause of God, seeking worldly wealth and power while abandoning the true teachings of their Creator.

Today, if Allah has sent me, it is to strive for His servants and to unite them in His worship alone, and as one body, to supplicate for the eradication of evil. This is the work of prophet-reformers. I have not come with another Quran. I have not invented any new chapter of the Holy Quran to gain followers by the thousands. I consolidate myself solely upon the Holy Quran and the Sunnah, and I call people towards one Allah. I am the spiritual son of Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh) as well as the spiritual son of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) and Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmud Ahmad (ra). For me, Allah comes before everything. It is Allah Who has elevated me, not people, and I will be accountable only to Allah.

My call today remains the same: “Follow Allah and obey me.” It is in obedience to Allah and His Prophet and the Messiah of this century that you will find true salvation, and not in following those who have themselves strayed from the right path by inventing lies against Allah. Indeed, whoever invents a lie against Allah, without any authority from Allah, will perish a dreadful death, and their consequences in the Hereafter will be most severe.

Thus, blessed are those who have recognised the Khalifatullah of this era, a Khalifatullah whom Allah has exalted by His own Hand and infused with the Ruh-ul-Quddus (Holy Spirit) to guide them on the straight path – the path of Islam and the love of His beloved, Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh). This Khalifatullah inspires them to follow his (Muhammad’s) Sunnah, such Sunnah that will benefit their lives on Earth and in the Hereafter. Blessed are those who have acknowledged my truthfulness in this era and have not allowed their lives to be wasted.

I have come to strengthen the chain of prophets and the chosen ones of Allah, not to break it. May Allah bless all those who have recognised the truth. May Allah always grant them His closeness and enable them to walk steadfastly upon the Sirat-ul-Mustaqeem (the straight path). Insha-Allah. Ameen.

[During the course of the sermon, the Khalifatullah (atba) shared an important dream witnessed earlier that day (21 February 2025): He saw that the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community was in a much abased situation…– not good at all!  [Not mentioned in the Sermon but included in the dream is his meeting with the Promised Messiah who hugged him with much love and told him: “I am very much pleased with you; you are doing great work for Islam and bringing honour to the Ahmadiyya Community] And he dreamt that the Plague like in the times of the Promised Messiah (as) had returned – a great Plague. His mother, the late Hazrat Momin (may Allah be pleased with her) opened a box, and showed him the ravage caused by that Plague, and she informed him that it was only him (the Khalifatullah) who could save the people from the Plague. So, Hazrat Munir (atba) took that great Calamity with his own two hands from the box and got rid of it. Alhamdulillah.]
