The Mysterious & Wonderful Realm of Divine Revelations and the Advent of a Messenger of Allah
'It is not granted to any mortal that Allah should speak to him except through revelation or from behind a veil, or by sending a messenger to reveal by His command what He wills: He is Exalted and Wise.' (Ash-Shuraa 42: 52)
Alhamdulillah Summa Alhamdulillah, I will continue today’s Friday Sermon on the subject
of Divine Revelations and the Advent of a Messenger of Allah.
As I told you last week, the Messenger of Allah is such a recipient which is empty of himself and filled instead with Allah’s Will. He submits himself to the Will of Allah and makes the divine essence control him, in his actions so that he is able to properly transmit the divine messages that he has been commissioned to distribute to his people and to all humanity (especially for the Islamic Prophets and Messengers of Allah - who come after the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (saws) and who follow in his footsteps in order to revive the teachings and commandments of the Quran and his own Sunnan (practices) – i.e., the Sunnan of our Beloved Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh).
“I have created you, O mankind! Why do you then
worship others who are just as temporary as you on this flimsy world? You
hanker after the world, yet you want salvation. Do what you have been told through
My Messengers! Set yourselves free of yourselves. Break free from the clutches
of the Satans who seek to separate Me from you, and you from yourselves. Yet if
you look deep inside, you will find Me ever ready to forgive you, and show you
the way to Me. I am Your Lord, and Best Friend. I cannot let go of you for you
are dear to Me. As long as you seek forgiveness from Me, I will continue to
forgive you. You are that part of Me which needs to return to Me, Mine and
Myself [whereby you are for Me, from Me, and all of you are for Me, and is My
Amanat (Belonging) that must return to Me, come what may!]
You can no longer drift apart when I am your Anchor O
Ship! I will save you from every shipwreck when you make Me your Compass and
trust in the Shore. The faith will keep you alive and alive you will then be in
the hereafter.
When I am thirsty of you, I do want you to be thirsty
of Me. Worship Me exclusively without ascribing any partner to Me. The way to
Me is easy but you complicate it with your increasing wants and desires, and
let your focus shift from Me to the pleasures of a world which is destined for
destruction.
When I am for you, you need not worry. I am near, and
I hear you. Then do not be deaf to My Call for this Call is such a Call which
will take you from poverty to extreme riches.
He who has Me is rich and he who is deprived of Me is
poor. Be ready to suffer for Me so that you may be admitted in the realm of My
Love, such a Love which is devoid of My wrath and which is filled with My mercy
and the protection from every evil. When you fight evil, seek Me as your help
and I will be there to help you. My angels, My commanders, My army of devoted
servants will be ever ready to help you. The time has come for you to awakened
and listen and act upon the divine messages bestowed to My Khalifatullah whom I
have anointed with the perfume of My approval and love. Those whom I choose and
protect, I continue to surround them with that love and protection as long as
they walk on My path and accomplish their mission for which they have been
decreed.”
Such is Allah, the Creator, the Maker, the Fashioner.
He carves, He forms, and He decrees. He sends down His instructions and those
pearls of knowledge are known as Divine Revelations and Inspirations,
especially if it enters your heart like the Sun turns the Night into a new
dawn, a new day.
When Allah is pleased with someone, when He promises something, He is bound to
accomplish it with conditions attached. Allah says in the Holy Quran:
Each person has guardian angels before him and behind,
watching over him by God’s command. God does not
change the condition of a people (for the worse) unless they change what is in
themselves. (Ar-Rad 13: 12)
Indeed, you (the Prophet) cannot guide whom you love,
but Allah guides whom He wills, and He knows best those who are rightly-guided. (Al-Qasas 28: 57)
Whenever the time is ripe for Allah to fulfil His
purpose, He will do it, and no one can ever restrict His actions, for He is
beyond all actions and retributions. Such days and nights of great divine
manifestations happen essentially during the advent of His Chosen Messenger,
one whom He purifies with His words and guides so that in turn he can guide the
world. If the final code of life came into being with the Holy Quran, the final
law-bearing prophet came into being in the person of the Holy Prophet Muhammad
(pbuh) and the final religion came into being with Islam, yet this does not
mean that the Holy Quran, the Holy Prophet (pbuh) and the glorious religion of
Islam will be always be safe from the evil intents of the evildoers. It means
that they are the truth, yet falsehoods will try to render it to dust. But
Allah says: Not possible!
“When guidance comes to you from Me, whoever follows
it, there will be no fear for them, nor will they grieve.” (Al-Baqara 2: 39)
The sending of prophets and reformers to this world is
such a message of hope from Allah for mankind.
It means that: “O mankind! You still have time! Repent, repent,
repent!”
The Messenger is bestowed Divine Revelations in many
forms. He is either made to hear the words of revelations like a buzz or bell
sound, or the revelations comes at light-speed and then imprints into his mind,
or the Angel comes and he is made to perceive him and talk to him sometimes
like a comrade and sometimes like a student before the teacher, with awe and
respect. Divine Revelations are very painful for the Prophets and Messengers of
Allah. Their souls are made to disconnect in such a way from their bodies that
it becomes a real pain. That is why Divine Revelations are most precious, for
like gold which undergoes the fiery fire to become beautiful pieces to be worn,
likewise the Messenger of Allah is made to become of a fine nature through His
connection with Allah when receiving His message, either directly or through the
Angel of Allah.
The Divine Messages also comes through Divine
Inspirations to the heart and through writing as well. As our beloved prophet
Muhammad (pbuh) was an Ummi (analphabetic person), he relied more on the
words he heard rather than the written form, but this does not mean that
written form of Divine Revelations do not exist. They do exist. The Ten
Commandments were inscribed by the Divine Hand for Hazrat Musa (as) as a way to
teach his people. Such miracles happen in a time when miracles were required to
change the perceptions of man and make him curb to the will of Allah. Today
after many eras of life on earth and mankind has inherited the teachings of all
prior law-bearing prophets, and with the advancement of science, it seems
improbable to man that such miracles do exist, but they do exist. Allah
appoints a time for such manifestations and miracles. He may manifest some in
an era, and other aspects of His signs in other eras as glad tidings of His
presence among all of us, and to gladden our hearts with it (i.e. His
presence).
Thus, whenever a Messenger of Allah appears in the
world, one must make it a must to believe and join his ranks for He is from
Allah and Allah drives (guides) him. His will is the will of Allah and from his
appointment as Special Envoy of Allah till his death, Allah guides him to rid
himself of his human passions, teach him to forego his Nafs (ego) and to
carve himself in His image. When this happens, it becomes clear that this Envoy
will always be helped by Allah, and despite the plots of his enemies, the Hand
of Allah will always be on him, come what may. Such a time will come when he
will surely overcome and the small party of believers who are with him will
increase and spread upon the earth like lights enlightening the world with the
message of truth.
If the world were to be forever deprived of Divine
Revelations, this world would have long gone been annihilated and became lost
in the whirlpool of time for man would have become lost in such a way that
there is no turning back for him, but Allah is a Merciful God. He never
punishes until He has warned His servants of the consequences of their wrong
intentions and evil deeds. He sends His appointed servants to warn them and
strive to bring them to the Right Way. Those who obey will be in felicity
whereas those who disobey and turn their backs to Him and His Messenger are
like despaired souls who have decided to become erring souls without any
direction until they taste the ultimate divine punishment. But like Allah says:
“… O My slaves who have transgressed against
themselves (because of sins), do not despair from the mercy of Allah. Verily,
Allah forgives all sins. Verily, He is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” (Az-Zumar 39: 54)
I stop here for today. Insha-Allah, I will
continue on the same topic next week. May Allah give me the necessary
Tawfeeq (Opportunity) and Ilm (Knowledge) to develop this subject so
that you can understand it well, and (especially) on what is awaiting further
ahead for those of you who despite the fact that Allah gave them all the signs
and opportunities to reform, yet they did not reform, and they persisted in
their delusion without turning to Allah with repentance. So, Insha-Allah,
I will talk about this next week.
May Allah give you all the Tawfeeq, me included,
so that we can go forward in obedience to His instructions and be counted among
His most obedient and loyal servants. Insha-Allah. Ameen.
