A Ta’lim Majlis at Mathra-III

Siraj Makin, the women’s collective of the Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam, South Kerala (India) organized a One-Day Ta’lim Majlis (Divinity Study Program) for the benefit of its members at the historic Noor'ul Islam Masjid, Mathra on Sunday, 23 June 2019 ~ 19 Shawwal 1440 AH. The special study session essentially sought to build upon the earlier initiatives and meetings of the Kerala Jamaat this year- the programs of 09 February 2019 & 19-20 April 2019- to provide the members an opportunity for collective learning/brain-storming so as to keep them aware of the Deeni Ta’lim.

Members of the Jamaat who were present in the programs include Sadr-Siraj Makin Haseena Masood Saheba; Rajeena Sadiq Ali Saheba; Sofiya Beevi Saheba; Naib Sadr Fauzia Jamal-Zain Saheba; Faezah Maryam Zain; DA Zainul Abdeen Saheb of Karunagappally; Na'ib Amir/Jamaat Sadiq Ali Saheb; Sulfikar Ali Saheb, Zachariah Ibn Zain; Munir Ahmad Azim (Jr.); Zaki Mubarak Aziz Raother, etc. Siraj Makin members such as Raziya Hariz Saheba (Alappuzha) and Mubeena Sabir Saheba (Palakkad) were informed well-in advance. However, those members conveyed their inability to attend the program when contacted over telephone.
Mukarram Amir/Jamaat Janab Jamaluddin Raother Saheb presided over the Open Session held early morning- soon after the Fajr Namaz: the message from Imam- Jamaat Hadhrat Khalifatullah Munir Ahmad Azim Saheb (atba) of Mauritius and also the special discourse from Hazrat Ummul Mu’mineen Fazli Amena Varsally (International Sadr-Siraj Makin) were discussed in that common session where Fazil Jamal saheb provided a Malayalam translation of the Special Addresses for the benefit of all members. Then, Mukarram Amir Saheb provided a detailed commentary on the special speeches, Alhamdulillah.
In his Special Address, Hadhrat Khalifatullah (atba) spoke on the importance of Shura (the system of Consultation in common affairs) in Islam. In his discourse, Hadhrat Khalifatullah (atba) notes the importance of the spirit of accommodation, mutual interaction and conciliation of differences of opinion in collective spiritual life, community welfare and progress. To live the ideals of the Jamaat, members need to develop and nurture fraternal affinity and solidarity bonds beyond cultural, regional and linguistic barriers. Such outreach with our fellow members is critical for developing a sense of unity, belongingness and community cohesion; helping one another with the spirit of Taqwah, to advance the cause of Islam and shared humanity. In this context, Hadhrat Khalifatullah (atba) commended highly the recent initiative by Mukarram Amir Jamaluddin Saheb of the Kerala Jamaat to visit and nurture solid bonds with our brothers in Tamil Nadu, and Hadhrat Saheb (atba) also encouraged the women members of the Jamaat also to consider every opportunity to develop such sisterly bonds across the borders through personal visits as well as through social media linkages possible in our times.
Considering that we are living in the times of a Divine Elect who could and would be the final arbiter and disposer of differences or disputes, the Jamaat has a blessed and effective system of Consultation for dealing with the exigencies of personal as well as community spiritual life among the believers. When a sincere believer submits troubling aspects of personal choices they face in their individual or social life to Allah (swt) and His Messenger (atba) and thereafter holds patience and remains steadfast through perplexing times, such believers will find their issues resolved through Divine decision unraveling in front of them in interesting ways, notes Hadhrat Khalifatullah (atba).
In her special discourse for the Siraj Makin gathering, Hazrat Ummul Mu’mineen Fazli Amena Saheba (International Sadr-Siraj Makin) expounded on the importance of Zikrullah (Remembrance of Allah) in individual spiritual life. Hazrat Saheba notes in her speech, and I quote:

“Be it in happy days and sad days, Allah should always be in your mind, to thank Him and to ask of Him to give you the strength and courage to deal with all problems of life and advance in spirituality, and to become a sincere and pious help for His cause”.
Exhorting the members to fulfill their duties with love and verve, Hazrat Saheba stated:

‘Have love for your works of Deen. Do not take it as a burden to be discharged as soon as possible. If you love Allah and His cause, and the works entailed, then Allah shall help you in this work, shall guide you and purify your intellect with the necessary knowledge to bring people towards Allah. Do not remain inactive. Be active in the path of Allah. Make the necessary efforts and Allah shall bless your efforts and bring you to the pinnacle of success in this world and the hereafter’.
The women’s only special session of the Ta’lim program started at 9.00 am. Sadr Saheba Haseena Masood presided over the session. After the Tilawat-ul-Qur’an (verse of Ayat-ul-Kursi) by Zaki Mubarak Aziz Raother, Sadr Saheba provided a brief commentary along with the Malayalam translation. Rajeena Saheba then recited a Nazm in Malayalam, eulogizing the sacred memory of the Holy Prophet (sa). In her inaugural speech, the Sadr Saheba introduced to the sisters a famous treatise of Hazrat Musleh Maoud (ra) on ‘Irfan-e-Ilaahi’ (Pathway to Attain Divine Knowledge) and explained the concept of ‘Tauba’ and the several conditions attached to it as the first step to attain Divine Knowledge- as explained by Hazrat Musleh Maoud (ra). As practical guidelines for the every-day spiritual practices of the members, the Sadr saheba underscored the importance of recitation of the Holy Qur’an and also the Ahadith on a daily basis. Also, the Sadr Saheba exhorted the members to stand in solidarity with our new sisters and brothers in Tamil Nadu, and contribute liberally and generously to the realization of the Jamaat project there- for the construction of the proposed Siraj-um-Munir Masjid, and requested everyone to indicate their initial promises of financial contribution for the project.
Based on the Commentary on Surah An-Nur (originally written in English by Hazrat Ummul Mu'mineen International Sadr Saheba (Siraj Makin); translated into Malayalam by Fauzia Jamal-Zain Saheba), there were three presentations by the members:

  3. The context of the Revelation of Surah An-Nur’ by Fauzia Jamal-Zain Saheba.

This round of speeches was followed by sharing of experiences in which the members reminisced the beautiful moments since the last meeting in April 2019, including the Ramadan period and the Eid-ul-Fitr Day when many of our members could join the Jamaat lunch program at the Meera Charitable Trust, with the mothers and sisters of the old age home, Alhamdulillah.
In the Ta’lim session, members revised the Jamaat Study Circle Syllabus they have learned over the months, reciting several Duahs and the Divine Attributes. A ‘quiz’ was also conducted to test the knowledge of the sisters. All members participated enthusiastically in this exercise. In the attached children’s program, Zachariah Ibn Zain, Zaki Mubarak Aziz Raother and Munir Ahmad Azim performed creditably in sharing their knowledge of Deeni Ta’lim, Alhamdulillah.
The program ended with a collective Duah lead by the Sadr Saheba, Soumma Alhamdulillah.
