Islam & Humans- 2

In his Friday Sermon of 28 January 2022~ 25 Jamadi’ul Aakhir 1443 AH, Imam- Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam International Hazrat Khalifatullah Munir A. Azim (aba) of Mauritius spoke about a profound problem afflicting the Muslim Ummah of our times: the scourge of sectarian differences coupled with violence and bloodshed that afflicts Muslim lands almost everywhere. Hazrat Khalifatullah (aba) underscores the need for respecting the obligations of  brotherhood, and the importance of unity and solidarity across all differences- keeping the spirit of Islamic teachings as taught by the Holy Prophet (sa) through his sublime, personal example.

The Muslims of today need to rediscover the real essence of their exalted Faith, awake to their true responsibility of embracing it wholeheartedly; being true to the commandments and prohibitions of the Way by following in the footsteps of the Holy Prophet (sa)- rather than following their own whims and interpretations based on selfish inclinations. Muslims who renew the true spirit of the Faith would eventually find the shadow of true help and succour from their Lord and it is indeed such devote believers who inherit the true favours and blessings both in this world and in the world to come, notes Hazrat Saheb (aba) in the Discourse.

Read the Friday Sermon Below:

In the year 2001, with the advent of the Divine Manifestation, the number of Muslims around the world greatly exceeded the threshold of one billion. The world which was vast at the time of the Holy Prophet (pbuh) has shrunk with the advancement of technology, means of transport and modern communications. Technological development has also contributed to the degradation of the Ummah, which has completely forgotten the teaching of the Prophet (pbuh): “Every Muslim is a brother”.

Allah designates the 'believer' by saying:

Allaziina amanu wa amiilus-Saliihaat

“Those who believe and do good.”

(Al-Baqara 2 : 26, 83 & 278, Al-Imran 3 : 58, An-Nisa 4 : 58, 123, 125 & 174, Al-Maida 5 : 10 & 94, Yunus 10 : 10, Ar-Raad 13 : 30, Ibrahim 14 : 24, Al-Kahf 18: 31 & 108, Maryam 19 : 97, Al-Hajj 22 : 15, 24, 51 & 57, Al-Ankabut 29 : 8, 10 & 59, Ar-Rum 30 : 46, Luqman 31: 9, As-Sajda 32: 20, Saba 34: 5, Fatir 35 : 8, Ghafir 40: 59, Fussilat 41: 9, Ashura 42:24 & 27, Al-Jathiya 45: 22 & 31, Muhammad 47 : 3 & 13, Al-Fath 48 : 30, At-Talaq 65 : 12, Al-Inshiqaq 84 : 26, Al-Buruj 85 : 12, At-Tin 95 : 7, Al-Bayyina 98 : 8, Al-Asr 103: 4)

But unfortunately in Afghanistan, Algeria, Pakistan, Turkey, and in other Islamic countries, Muslim brothers kill each other. The number of Muslims killed by their Muslim brothers greatly exceeds the number killed by Jews in the occupied territories of Gaza and the West Bank. Even if there is no killing in Mauritius the situation is not different. Here too Muslims have completely forgotten the true message of Islam as taught by the Prophet (pbuh). We challenge each other on controversial topics between [the several] groups. It is high time that the scholars of the Muslim community of Mauritius reflect that it is high time, once and for all, that we unite for good in the propagation of the true message of Islam as taught by our illustrious and beloved Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

Although Allah has already informed us that the religion of the Holy Prophet (pbuh) will prevail over others, we are not permitted to fall asleep. We must work hard for the propagation of Islam and the message left by our model Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh).

We, the Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam, Alhamdulillah, work hard for the spread of Islam and also for the unification of the Ummah. Our wish is that Muslims can unite to fight the scourges that affect the community and that wreak havoc among us.

We appeal to our brothers, professionals, workers, scholars, believers, to join us in the propagation of our Deen by thinking more about what unites us instead of what separates us. Let us put an end to our quarrels once and for all and unite as civilized people and together seek solutions to our problems. Insha-Allah.

Islam will never suffer the alterations and manipulations of men because it is perfect, perfected by the Supreme Science of Allah. Allah The Most High declares: “This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favour upon you and have chosen for you Islam as religion.” (Al-Maida 5: 4)

What other path is there to reach the Creator apart from this religion revealed to humanity which will remain relevant despite the centuries that have passed and which will pass until the final day?

The Message of Islam is universal. It is certainly the continuity and the completion of the messages of Allah revealed before, but no one will be able to acquire nearness to Allah without submitting and without applying the teachings of the Seal of the Messengers and Prophets, the Last Law-bearing Prophet, the beloved of Allah Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh). For Allah The Most Merciful has said:

“Say, [O Muhammad (pbuh)], if you truly love Allah, then follow me. Allah will love you and forgive you your sins, surely Allah is Most Forgiving and Most Merciful.” (Al-Imran 3: 32)

What other path are we still seeking? There is no other right path now that really leads to Allah. But today everyone interprets Islam as he understands it, personally, according to the knowledge he possesses. But his knowledge will never be able to compete with the Lord of the worlds.

If all scientists, scholars, philosophers of all cultures put all their knowledge together, it would not even represent a droplet in front of the immense ocean of the Science of Allah. But if all this knowledge could come together in the body of one man, then know that this man is the Holy Prophet (pbuh) to whom Allah granted the sciences of the first to the last humans. But our prophet (pbuh) who was better placed than anyone else only submitted to and obeyed the Creator, Allah. Who do we claim to be, then, to consider ourselves capable of revising, of modernizing divine charity?

Do not be carried away by this subversive thinking and cultural rebellion, for Allah has warned us against disobedience to His Messenger (pbuh) by stating:

“Let those beware who withstand the Messenger’s order, lest some trial [fitna] befall them, or a grievous penalty be inflicted on them.” (An-Noor, 24: 64)

Do not dissociate the Qur’an from the Sunnah; it would be like trying to dissociate Allah from His Messenger (pbuh). This dissociation leads the person towards infidelity.

The external aspect is also important. The regulations concerning the external dress code of women are not Indian customs but a chapter of the Shariah. It is on the outward appearance of a person, on his acts of devotion, on the crimes he has committed, that on the Day of Judgement the hidden faith will be put in examination.

How can we neglect the external aspect even when the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) made the following duah: “O Allah! Make my conscience better than my external aspect and make my external aspect virtuous.”!

Let us clean up our conscience and our external aspect too, because religious practices and the visible part of Islam constitute a protection for the faith which is hidden.

Allah the Most Pure gave us life to worship Him and to submit to Him. So let’s seek His contentment, His love by following the Light of Muhammad (pbuh). There’s still time.

One cannot dissociate Allah (twt) from His beloved Prophet (pbuh), because to submit to the orders of the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) is to obey Allah: “And whoever obeys the Prophet has truly obeyed Allah.” (An-Nisa 4: 81)

Allah The Majestic orders us thirty-three times in the Holy Quran, to apply the prophetic directives: “And if you will obey his command, you will receive guidance.” (An-Noor 24: 55)

But as the Beloved of Allah (pbuh) and His Spokesman, Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh) clearly stated the Message of Allah orally, but also in practice, and that is why Allah took the guarantee of protecting His holy word until the final day by declaring: “It is certainly We Who have revealed the Reminder, and it is certainly We Who will preserve it.” (Al-Hijr, 15: 10)

The Sunnah which is the prophetic teaching also benefits from this supreme attention of Allah. Therein lies all the strength of Islam: Not one iota will be taken from it or added to it until the final day.

Allah asks for a reform from us so that the establishment of true Islam can take place. Islam exists, yes, but it is neglected and underestimated. It is time to make it shine in the four corners of the world, to bring it out of the darkness of this world and to make it shine like the most brilliant diamond. This transformation will be possible if we rekindle true faith in our hearts, and we realize that there is strength in unity. Let us not let the Satans of this world separate us and cut us to shreds, forcing us to forget the true teachings of our Creator and His beloved Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh). Insha-Allah, Ameen.
