The Sacrifice behind Eid-ul-Adha
Eid-ul-Adha (Bakr Eid) remains a profoundly sacred moment – the greatest Eid – which recalls an extraordinary story: that of the Prophet Hazrat Ibrahim (as) and his son Hazrat Isma’il (as). Allah commanded Hazrat Ibrahim (as) through a vision to sacrifice his son, Hazrat Isma’il (as). Hazrat Isma’il (as) had not yet reached the age of puberty, yet at this tender age he accepted with complete submission that his father should sacrifice him by Allah’s command; Hazrat Isma’il (as) displayed unparalleled courage and faith. The Qur’an honours him in these words, where his sacrifice was immortalised: “When they both submitted (to Allah’s command) and Ibrahim laid him down upon his forehead, We called out to him: ‘O Ibrahim, you have indeed fulfilled the vision.’ Thus do We reward those who do good. Surely this was a clear test.” (As-Saffat 37: 104-107).

Bai’ah & Sincerity in Repentance
Sincere repentance towards Allah is a great
obligation for every Muslim. When a person makes a mistake, falls into sin, or
deviates from the straight path, he must return to Allah with a humble and
sincere heart. Repentance is not merely words on the lips; it is a deep
commitment in the heart, a true regret and a firm decision not to return to the
same error again.
In the Holy Qur’an (Az-Zumar, 39: 54), Allah
says that His mercy is vast and He forgives all sins if people return to Him
with sincerity. This shows that despite the number of mistakes a servant may
commit, the door of forgiveness remains open if he/ she asks for His
forgiveness sincerely.
In a Hadith reported by Anas bin Malik (ra), the Holy Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said: “Allah is more pleased with the repentance of His servant than a traveller who finds his mount after losing it in the desert.” (Bukhari, Muslim). This comparison shows the depth of Allah’s joy when a servant returns to Him.

Service to the Mosque
The Houses of Allah: Part
4
During
the time of the Messenger of Allah (pbuh), there lived an old Abyssinian lady
who had made it her occupation to sweep and clean the Mosque. She died during
the night time. The Sahaba buried her without informing the Messenger of Allah
(pbuh). When he came to know about it, he was bewildered and made them understand
that he should be informed whenever someone among the believers died and he
went to the cemetery and prayed on her (i.e. either Duahs or the Janaza
Prayer – as per different versions). (Bukhari, Muslim, Ibn Majah)
Cleaning the Masjid is an honourable act. Even the elder Sahaba such as Hazrat Umar Ibn Al-Khattaab (ra) used to sweep and clean the Mosque. This blessed work should not be viewed with disdain and disgust as it is no ordinary menial work. For every speck or particle of dust removed from the Mosque, Allah rewards the one cleaning His House with great blessings.

Unity of the Muslim Ummah- 2
Reaching for Unity (Pt.2)
So, the third cause…
THIRD
CAUSE
Disagreement among the
people of truth does not arise from lack of zeal and aspiration, nor does union
among the people of misguidance arise from loftiness of aspiration. Rather
disagreement among the people of truth arises from their misuse of high
aspiration, and union among the people of misguidance arises from the weakness
and impotence that come from lack of aspiration. What impels the people of
guidance to the misuse of their high aspiration - and hence to disagreement, and
rivalry - is the desire for heavenly reward that is counted as a praiseworthy
quality in the Hereafter.
It is even recorded in authentic traditions of the Holy Prophet that at the End of Time the truly pious among the Christians will unite with the people of the Quran and fight their common enemy, i.e. irreligion. Then the people of religion and truth will sincerely unite not only with the truly pious and spiritual ones among the Christians, but with all classes of pious and sincere people refraining from the discussion and debate of points of difference in order to combat their joint enemy, i.e. aggressive atheism.

'Salah': Errors to Avoid- 2
8)
Reluctance to stand in the front line in the congregational prayer.
The
Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: “If the people knew what (reward) is in the
call (Adhan) and the first row (in congregational prayers), and they
found no other way to get that except drawing lots, then they would draw lots.”
(Bukhari, Muslim, Tirmidhi)
The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) also said: “If anyone goes out from his house after performing ablution for saying the prescribed prayer in congregation (in the mosque), his reward will be like that of one who goes for Hajj pilgrimage after wearing Ihram (i.e. the two pieces of sheet worn by the Hajj pilgrims).” (Abu Dawud)

Surah Al-Ma'un: A Commentary
This chapter deals with the meaning and
real way of praying Allah. We need to have a firm conviction and attention during
our prayer; we need to have a practical mind and a sincere will by helping
others. It is with an absolute sincerity and not with an arrogant mind as a way
to show-off that all Muslims need to demonstrate whenever they are
accomplishing their devotions and charities. All devotions/ acts of worship
shall be rendered vain if we do not put all our heart, soul and conscience
towards their fulfilment. We have to perform our prayer with sincerity,
understanding and a spotless (clear) concentration.
Verses 2 &3:
Ara aytallazii yukazzibu bid Diin. Fa zaalikallazii yadu-‘ul yatiim -
Have you seen him who denies the Judgment (to come)?
Then such is the one who repulses the orphan (with harshness);
The word “Diin” here
means: (1) Judgement Day, taking responsibility in the moral and spiritual
worlds, for all deeds which men accomplish, or (2) Faith, religion, the
principles of good and evil in spiritual matters which are very often in
conflict with egoistic desires and personal preferences (of people).
It is those who reject faith or the subsequent responsibility who treat the weak ones with contempt and it is them who lead their lives with egoism and arrogance. Allah loves us all. Why should we then have contempt for the weak and poor?

The Instrumental Role of Divine Revelations
This
servant of Allah comes to taste of a special bond through which Allah reveals
Himself to His servant, and little by little – just like a gardener who waters
a newly planted seed into the soil to see it grow big, strong and productive –
this servant of Allah through dreams, visions, divine inspirations and
revelations grows from one spiritual state to the other and in capacity of exceptional
blessed instrument of Allah, he gets to receive within him such light as to
illuminate the whole world. His being becomes an object of light, a beacon of
light as to attract those who are within the nexus of the pleasure of Allah to
perceive his light, just like a radar emitting a powerful signal, to manifest
his presence among the people of the earth, especially, those endowed with true
knowledge. (Inset: Prophet Moses (as) with the tablets of the Ten Commandments, a painting by Rembrandt (1659).
