Remembering Hadhrat Musleh Maoud

On the occasion of Musleh Maoud Day, Khalifatullah Hadhrat Munir Ahmad Azim Sahib (atba) of Mauritius delivered a special sermon on February 20, 2012. The speech contains illuminating insights on the life and personality of the Musleh Maoud Hazrat Mirza Bashir-ud-Din Mahmood Ahmad, the Promised Son and Reformer of the Promised Messiah Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as). The speech is also significant for the powerful and unassailable arguments the Khalifatullah brings forward in defence of this Man of God, especially in the backdrop of the objections being raised against his status as Musleh Maoud by Abdul Ghaffar Janbah Sahib of Germany who claims to be the Divinely-appointed Mujaddid of the era.

This part contains the first instalment of this important speech and deals with the major milestones in the life of Hadhrat Khalifa Sani (ra). The second instalment dealing with the accusations that he met with an accursed death of a false claimant of Divine office is examined against the backdrop of true Islamic teachings on the Divine shadow of help over the missions of Divine Elects, historic record of martyrdom of the Jewish Prophets and the experiences of the Holy Prophet (sa) himself. Musleh Maoud Day marks the announcement of the revelation of the prophecy by the Promised Messiah, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as), about the birth of a son to him who would be the Musleh Maoud or Promised Reformer. The advent of Musleh Maoud was not only prophesised by the Promised Messiah but also by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), and the saints of Islam who lived before the advent of the Promised Messiah and in the scriptures and traditions of the past.

Born on 12 January 1889, Hazrat Musleh Maoud started his education in early 1895 with the simple reading of the Holy Quran. He attained fluency in reciting the Holy Quran within the short period of two years and an Ameen function was held to mark the happy occasion on 07 June 1897. For this memorable achievement the Promised Messiah (as) composed a poem in the form of a moving prayer, in acknowledgement of the grace and favour of Allah. (Thereafter Huzur (atba) sang the said poem).

He was then enrolled in the District Lower Primary School and then later joined the Talimul Islam School. Due to his constant ill-health and weak eyesight he did not achieve any degree of success in his secular studies. The Promised Messiah was very much concerned about his son’s illness to the degree, that in the last days of his life, he called one of his attending physicians and told him to take greater care of Mahmood’s health and should be more attentive to his treatment. His teachers were not altogether satisfied with the educational progress he was making in his studies, so they complained to the Promised Messiah who had him undergo a hand-writing test and found that his handwriting corresponded almost to his own. In his matriculation examination he could only secure passes in Arabic and Urdu.

Subsequently, Hazrat Maulvi Nuruddin (ra) took over the duties of his religious education. At the early age of fourteen, he composed his first poem in which he addressed Allah in the following words: “I seek Thy pleasure all the time. If I am favoured with it, I shall feel that I got all that there is to get.” This was the state of the heart that was to revolutionise the world and we find that was his guiding theme throughout his life which led him from success to success.

In 1903, he married Sayyeda Mahmooda Begum who later became known as Hazrat Sayyeda Umme Nasir. In May 1914 he married Hazrat Sayyeda Amatul Hayy, the daughter of Hazrat Khalifatul Massih I. Then in 1925, he married Hazrat Sayyeda Sarah Begum. He subsequently married Hazrat Sayyeda Umme Tahir. The first mentioned wife bore him Hazrat Mirza Nasir Ahmad who then became Khalifatul Massih III, while the last mentioned wife bore him Hazrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad (may Allah forgive him) who then afterwards became the Khalifatul Massih IV.

Among his other renowned sons are Mirza Mubarak Ahmad. In March 1906 he started the publication of a magazine known as Tashhizul Azhan of which he was the editor. His first editorial covered fourteen pages. In the Jalsa Salana (Annual Gathering) of the same year, he delivered his first important lecture which was highly appreciated by the audience and which was later published as a book.

At the age of nineteen, he started giving lessons on the Holy Quran after Maghrib (evening) prayer. In 1913, with the permission of Hazrat Khalifatul-Massih I, he started Al-Fazl newspaper from Qadian on a bi-weekly basis but it has since been converted into a daily newspaper. In the meantime, he also organised an association called ‘The Anjuman Ansarullah’ with the objective of raising the Community to greater activity in pursuing its objectives. Also when he was nineteen his illustrious father, the Promised Messiah, died and standing by him, he made the following historic statement: “Even if everybody deserted you and I were left alone to battle against the whole world, yet will I stand against the whole world and shall not heed any opposition or hostility.”

During the years from 1909 to 1911, he took lessons in English from Hazrat Maulvi Sher Ali and on the very first page in his notebook he wrote a very remarkable prayer which runs as follows: “O Lord God, help me in learning this language and bless every word that I learn from my teacher and help us in breaking the power of the cross and in slaying the swine, for man has no power without Thy aid.”

In March 1914, Hazrat Khalifatul Massih I became seriously ill, so he appointed Hazrat Musleh Maoud to lead the prayers. It may here be noted that Hazrat Musleh Maoud was only 25 years old at that time and to be appointed Imaam for prayers by the Khalifatul-Massih I showed what qualities must have been observed in him.

In this context it may be pointed out that an old and very respected companion of the Promised Messiah whose name was Pir Manzur Muhammad, after studying the works of the Promised Messiah on the subject of Musleh Maoud concluded that Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmud Ahmad combined in himself all the qualities which mark him out very clearly as the Musleh Maoud of the prophecy. He wrote a paper on it deducing fourteen points and applied the prophecy to Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmud Ahmad (ra). He presented the paper to Hazrat Khalifatul Massih I and having written a gist of the discussion between himself and the Khalifatul Massih, he presented it to him, requesting his signature for confirmation.

Hazrat Maulvi Nuruddin (ra) wrote the following on the paper and signed it: “We have known this for a long time. Haven’t you noticed that in our personal attitude towards him there is a deep inner shade of deference? I confirm that I said this in the course of a talk with Brother Pir Manzur Muhammad.”

On Friday 13 March 1914, Hazrat Khalifatul-Massih I passed away and the following day Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmud Ahmad (ra) was acclaimed as Khalifatul Massih II at that young age of 25. According to the prophecy announced by the Promised Messiah about the Musleh Maoud, two of the qualities mentioned are that he would be filled with secular and spiritual knowledge. During more than half a century of his Khilafat, Hazrat Musleh Maoud (ra) demonstrated these qualities in an exceptional manner. 

In 1924, he travelled to England to present a paper at the Conference of Living Religions of the Empire. The natural outcome of the paper is his book Ahmadiyyat or The True Islam. On 19 October 1924, he laid the foundation stone of the London Mosque. During the early thirties, he played an important role in the Kashmir situation and was unanimously acclaimed as the first President of the All India Kashmir Committee, a duty which he performed meritoriously. The result of the All India Kashmir Committee were nothing but miraculous.

He initiated Jalsa Seerat-un-Nabi (pbuh) and some years later, he launched All Prophet’s Day. With the combined efforts of the Ahrar and the Mullahs to undo the Community, Hazrat Musleh Maoud (ra) initiated the scheme of Tahrik-i-Jadid which roused the members of the Jamaat to respond admirably with great sacrifices. In 1944, he announced publicly that it was revealed to him that he was the Musleh Maoud (Promised Reformer) mentioned in the prophecy of the Promised Messiah who was the recipient of Divine revelation from his very youth.

He wrote by the grace of Allah more than two hundred books and pamphlets and his most famous work was the Tafseer-i-Kabeer which is a veritable storehouse of knowledge. All his writings and speeches display a very high scholarship in both the religious and secular fields and they stand second to none in his time. In every aspect of his life and action was fulfilled in every detail the prophecy about him being the Musleh Maoud. It was on Monday, 08 November 1965 that he breathed his last.

A ‘Severe Warning’ to Mr. Moussa Taujoo

In his Friday Sermon of October 28, 2011 the Khalifatullah Hadhrat Munir Ahmad Azim Sahib took note of the nefarious activities of the Ahmadiyya leadership in Mauritius which is hell-bent on deviating common Ahmadi people. With their administrative control over the every day lives of common Ahmadis, the leadership is virtually enslaving common Ahmadis.

They seek to restrict and prevent common Ahmadis from recognizing the Divine Manifestation and worse still, to fill their hearts with hatred against and contempt for, God’s Chosen Messenger of the era. As is perhaps to be expected in times like these, all of these Un-Islamic activities are being done and sought to be legitimized  in the name of protecting the sanctity of ‘Khilafat’ and ‘Ahmadiyyat’! Hadhrat Khalifatullah (atba) has now specifically warned the leaders among them- including the Ahmadiyya Amir of Mauritius- to desist from their evil ways and deeds or be ready to face their moment of reckoning which shall approach "soon, very soon".

“… Moussa Taujoo and Ganee, along with Amine are taking themselves as great protectors and defenders of Khilafat and Ahmadiyya. They have rejected that which they cannot grip from Allah’s knowledge, despite not receiving its explanation. Likewise, there were people before them who acted arrogantly, and refused to accept the truth and see how Allah Almighty has led them to their destruction.

You, Moussa, you are following only your imagination so as to acquire honour. You forgot the humiliation you got in 1988 when the late Caliph Tahir Sahib came; you listened so much to the talks of Hussein. Where is Hussein now and where are you? You were ousted (from your seat) – bear in mind that your satanic imagination which is making you apply boycott on us and not bidding us salaam cannot become greater (stronger) than the truth in any way. Allah knows what you are doing. Allah Almighty says in the Quran: “Inna sharraddaa-waaabbi indallaahis summul-bukmullaziina laa yaqiiluun.” – In the eyes of Allah, the worst animals are those who make the deaf and dumb, who do not use their reasoning (intellect).

O Moussa, fear that calamity which shall befall you and those around you, who are doing harm, and bear in mind that Allah Almighty is very severe in inflicting punishment. Ponder over the fact that those who reject the signs of Allah, Allah Almighty shall let them go astray and ultimate destruction little by little, in such a way that they do not realise (what is happening to them).

Khalifatul Massih as ‘Alimul Ghayb’

Any one who objectively, impartially, unemotionally and dispassionately examines the mindset of the contemporary Ahmadi Muslims will be struck by the long shadow of blind faith engulfing the landscape of Jamaat-e- Ahmadiyya. Several dimensions of this are unmistakably apparent in the every day lives of the believers. First, in their quest for absolute obedience to their Khalifa, they are willing to suspend reason and rationality and stoop to the extent of committing Shirk. Secondly, they venerate their Khalifa so much that they fail to recognize the pitfalls involved. Thirdly, even as they enter into schemes brought in by their Khulafa, they do not realize what they are doing! 

In a recent speech, Hadhrat Khalifatullah Munir Ahmad Azim Sahib of Mauritius illustrated these points with glaring examples of this unfortunate scenario within the mainstream Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya, who cliams the sole and exclusive legacy of the Promised Massih (as):

1.      Concerning absolute obedience to their Khalifa:

Once the 4^th Khalifa Mirza Thahir Ahmad Sahib said not to use any aluminium recipients to cook food, and therefore all Ahmadi Muslims in Mauritius threw away their own aluminium recipients so as to buy new costly “AMC” recipients so as to cook food. There were even some who contracted debts (taking credit and paying interest) so as to buy these new recipients. After some years, all of these Ahmadi Muslims reverted back to their use of aluminium recipients!

This is the mentality of the Ahmadi Muslims in Mauritius whereby they take the words of their Khalifa as more important than the Qur’anic verses and the words of the Holy Prophet (sa). If this is not a Shirk, then what is this? 

The Curse of the Fourth Khalifa

In the 1990’s, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community under the leadership of the Fourth Khalifa Mirza Tahir Ahmad Sahib entered into a Global Bai'at Programme for converting the world in to Ahmadiyya Islam. Every year, specific targets were centrally determined for converting people and the leaders dished out reports of their work in executing the task. And the Khalifa kept on announcing the news: that hundreds of thousands and millions and millions of people were joining the Jamaat from all parts of the world. 

So much so that by the time of the death of the Fourth Khalifa in 2003, the Jamaat estimates showed that over 200 million people were its members! Imagine, a million Ahmadis in every country of the world- a picture of unbelievably extraordinary progress no community has ever achieved within a single decade in the entire history of human kind!!

While this story was being fed to unsuspecting common Ahmadis, thoughtful people became uncomfortable with its apparent lack of credibility. They saw that the fourth Khalifa relied completely on the reports he received and did not share their concern about the accuracy of the reports being sent by the leaders within. So much so that the Khalifa once said that “Khuda ki Kasam” all Bai’at reports are true (in millions and millions in number) when a man stood up to attract his attention on the subject. He even became angry when the man questioned him on the subject. Without knowing the truth, he took the name of Allah, read a false report of Bai’ats and did not hesitate to offer the curse:

“May the curse of Allah be upon the liars”

JUSAI: Public Meeting in Kerala-II

At a special Programme organized to mark the successful, historic, first public meeting of the Sahih Al Islam Community in Kerala, Hadhrat Khalifatullah Munir Ahmad Azim Sahib offered some insightful comments throwing light on the fortunes of believers in the time of a Divine Manifestation.

And that those who have been given the knowledge may know that it is the truth from your Lord, so they may believe in it and their hearts may be lowly before it; and most surely Allah is the Guide of those who believe into a right path. (22:55) 

Who are those who believe in it (and submit to this divine commandment)? They are those who recognise the advent of a Messenger of Allah. By the grace of Allah, the Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam members, those who have not seen the Khalifatullah of this age have believed in this humble self, and despite not seeing me in flesh and blood, yet they believed in the veracity of Allah and His Messenger and they are foremost to do exceptional works for the progress of Deen-i-Islam. They have recognized the instructions (the knowledge) bestowed upon them by Allah, to be the truth and they have believed in it, and their hearts also are convinced on this truth.

Munir A. Azim: Expulsion for Revelations

Common Ahmadis are surprised. They are intrigued when they come to know that Hadhrat Munir Ahmad Azim Sahib of Mauritius was outsted from the Jamaat merely on the ground of his being a recipient of divine revelations.

They refuse to believe that the Jamaat establishment will excommunicate someone for being blessed by the divine favour of revelations. They feel that since the teaching of the Promised Massih (as) clearly foretold the continuity of revelations, it is simply impossible that any one would be expelled on that ground.

Sometime back, an Ahmadi brother who simply believes that the present Ahmadiyya Khalifa is appointed by Allah the Most High wrote to us explaining his position on the appearance of an Elect of Allah in the Jamaat. He was of the opinion that the Ahmadiyya Khilafat need not and will not be in conflict with the advent of a new Mujaddid/Khalifatullah and that they could co-“exist in perfect harmony” given the fact that the Promised Massih (as) taught us about the continuity of revelations in the Jamaat and that there are historical precedents for it. He wrote:

   

“As (I have stated that) the present system of which I am part of at the moment is Allah’s system, supported by the Holy Quran and foretold by Holy Prophet of Islam, the question is what should be done when someone arrives from Allah, when there exists a divine system already???

The answer is quite simple for an ahmadi. When we look into history we have witnessed the prophethood of Hazrath Haroon (as) at the same time of that of Hazrath Musa (as). Both were raised for the same cause. But they never challenged each other. There wasn’t any clash between them….

If a Mujaddid/reformer/caliph/ prophet of Allah come, they would exist in perfect harmony with the already present divine system just as we witnessed in the past history even in  case of two prophets at the same time. So why should be there any doubt regarding more than one divine appointees at the same time?”

FRIDAY, the 10 and the New Massih

Hadhrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad Sahib (May Allah forgive him) once said that he saw in a vision “Friday the 10”.

Almost everyone in the Ahmadiyya Community is familiar with this vision of the Fourth Khalifa. And there has always been much speculation within about its real meaning and import. Reflecting upon the profound meaning of this spiritual vision, Hadhrat Khalifatullah Munir Ahmad Azim Sahib of Mauritius linked it with the year 2010 and the events in his Divine mission. 

The year 2010 began on a Friday, 01 January 2010- the first Friday of the year 2010. The first Friday of the New Year was also a blessed day for Muslims- for it was an Eid-ul-Jumm’ah. And the last day of the Year 2010 was also a Friday, 31 December 2010.

It was on Friday, September 10, 2010, that Allah made the Khalifatullah stand up to officially proclaim himself as Messiah, Mujaddid and Prophet of Allah.

Within a month of this official proclamation, Allah inclined the hearts of believers in a distant Asian land -Kerala, India- to recognize the Divine Manifestation in Mauritius, an African island! That the Divine Manifestation is happening in Africa should be a matter of happiness and pride for thoughtful Ahmadis- For it confirms a prophecy of Hadhrat Khalifa Sani (ra) that “the future of the Jamaat is linked up with Africa”.

And it was on a Friday in the 10^th month of the year 2010 that the new disciples of the Khalifatullah formed a branch of the Jamaat in Kerala!!

The year 2010 also marked the 10^th year of the Divine Mission of Hadhrat Munir Ahmad Azim Sahib, having begun his preaching in 2001- “the number has changed place – 2001 has become 2010. The 1 which was after 0 has now come before 0”, as Hadhrat Khalifatullah mystically observed in the Friday Sermon of January 01, 2010.

Fourth Khalifa on the Mubahila Question

In the aftermath of the Mubahala Challenge issued by Khalifatullah Hadhrat Munir Ahmad Azim Sahib (atba) of Mauritius against the Ahmadi Maulana from Kerala, India - Maulvi Muhammad Ismail Sahib HA -in response to his false allegations regarding the new Massih, some Ahmadi friends have raised an issue: How can the Mubahila be conducted when the Massih is in Mauritius and the Maulana is in Kerala, India? They would not have even raised this issue, had they not forgotten what their own books teach! Let us remind them and also refresh our memory by quoting from the official Ahmadiyya statement on the matter, issued in the times of the fourth caliph, Hazrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad Saheb!

On June 10, 1988 the Fourth Khalifa Hadhrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad Sahib challenged the Pakistani Mullahs to Mubahila. Many of them raised the same issue: How can the Mubahila be conducted when the Khalifa is in England and the Maulanas are in Pakistan? Rashid Ahmad Chaudhry, the then Press Secretary to Khalifatul Massih IV, issued a comprehensive statement on October 16, 1988 entitled “The Mubahala Challenge and the Response of Mullahs” articulating the view of the Community on various relevant issues. He writes: 

“Secondly, as for the demand that both parties should gather together in such and such place; or that if Mirza Tahir did not reach Lahore on such and such date, he would be considered a liar. To us, these are lame excuses and nothing short of running away from the Mubahala Challenge.

It is our firm belief that Allah is present everywhere. There is no place beyond the reach of His Powers and no spot on earth is beyond the sphere of His absolute domination and His omnipotence. Unlike any worldly monarch or ruler whose seat of power lies in England or Pakistan, "The Throne of our Lord extends over the heavens and the earth." (Qur’an 2:256) 

So what is wrong with simply addressing Allah and saying: "La’nat ullah alal Kazibeen" why must there be the physical presence of both parties to the Mubahala? Does God not have the power to inflict those in London with His curse as a result of your prayer in Lahore, or made you the subject of Divine wrath wherever you are, as a result of our prayers?
